Win over Alabama...

After having to endure a game between VCU and George Mason for aprox. 12 minutes of the UK game-time clock, we were finally able to enjoy our team on live television. The sad thing is, I wish I could've enjoyed it a little bit more than what I did along with my other ASOBluers, but unfortunately our team played reminiscent of some of the games earlier on in the season. I guess I'm starting to get a bit spoiled for thinking we should have blown them out, and the final score reflected our intensity of play. In addition to the post-game synopsis, let's share our thoughts of the game against Alabama and what we did good vs. what we didn't do so good.

To start it off...I thought our defensive execution wasn't the greatest. Overall, there was a lot of guys standing around, missing pick and rolls and just not defending very well.

I thought we did a good job at ball movement on offense at times though. Obviously, our turnovers were killing us in putting the Tide away, but when the guys passed well, they were getting the ball inside, just not inside enough. I would still like to see Patterson get much more active on offense.

Thoughts....?

Your not expecting too much

We should be way past a game like this. We took a step back tonight. This will be a loss with Tennessee or any road game.

I was

at the game and it was ugly. However it was very apparent that Alabama was playing a very disruptive defense with a lot of contact that was not called. I think it was the kind of game we needed to experience as tourney time draws near. Wasn’t pretty to watch but the W sure looks nice.

I think you are on to the right track there wineman......

Bama played extremely rough defense, especially against Wall, and the guys didnt adjust on the floor. Cal kept having to call TO’s to adjust. They will fix it in practice, but they definitely struggled with the very physical play on the outside. we are used to it in the paint, just not out on the perimeter and beyond

I remember

several possessions where Wall was mugged bringing the ball up the court and the refs swallowed their whistles. On one particularly bad assault, the refs finally called the foul and the PA announcer said it was the 4th foul on that bama player. I told my friend that it was the 4th foul committed by that player on that play alone!

anyone’s figure…..lol….

Yeah wineman...

We needed a game like this before the tourney to get another reality check of where we’re at now and where we can’t afford to be in March if we want to win. I don’t think we will, but if we do play like this in March, we’re gonna go down fast. I’m sure Cal has got some words for his boys this week in practice.

I use to love Happy Meals, now I love sushi, but I will always love Kentucky!
