Cats Are 22-1 Now
Is that a big deal in UK history?
I think so. Only a few UK teams have been 22-1 or better (23-0).
The 1949 Cats were 22-1. So were the 1951 Wildcats. The 1954 Cats were 23-0.
Ditto Rupp's Runts at 23-0 in 1966. The 1970 Cats were 22-1. Only the 1996 UK team was 22-1 since then.
Not 1948 Fabulous Five. Not 1978 Slaughterhouse Five. Not the Comeback Cats in 1998.
So 22-1 is a big deal.
The 49 and 51 Cats were NCAA champions. The 54 Cats went undefeated. Rupp's Runts and the 70 Cats both finished #1 in the AP poll. And the 1996 Untouchables are considered by many the best UK team of the post Rupp era.

I do love it sooooo.....
Forty, What is the next statistical milestone for this team???
Remember, we're having fun now!!!
25-1 And 30-1
Only a few UK teams were 25-0.
Even fewer were 30-1.
Now 25-1 After Last Night
In modern era (last 5 decades) only Rupps Runts (in 1966) plus 1996 and 1970 Cats were 25-1 or better.
The Runts were actually 26-0 after 26 games played.

I would say Tennessee at Tennessee or Mississippi St. at Miss. St.
Both of those environments can be tough for teams.
I use to love Happy Meals, now I love sushi, but I will always love Kentucky!
Both Tennessee games are dangerous
Don’t underestimate them.

They dominated South Carolina last night
They still have alot of weapons. They didn’t seem to defend the three any better than we did – Downey torched them every time they left him a shot. And Carolina seemed to do a good job rebounding like when they beat us… Tenn will be tough in Knoxville – I’m thinking we can take them in Lexington.
I'd have to add Vandy in Nashville to the list
Only because they play in that cesspool they call a gym.
Things are more like they are today than they ever have been.

Think both you and ukcat1982 are right...
We’re coming right up to the toughest part of our schedule this year… UT @ home, MS ST & Vandy on the road, SC @ home, then down to UT. We’ll be extremely fortunate to walk away from that 5 game stretch 4-1! Don’t want to be a killjoy, but we’re a team that is currently starting 4 first-year D1 players… The experience just isn’t there to sweep those five games, IMHO. Sure would be nice to see but just trying to realistic! :-)
If your wings don't sweep....
After the Alabama
game UK enters a stretch in which every team is very capable of beating them if they don’t play up to their potential. We may very well suffer a loss or two in this stretch but in my opinion it will serve the purpose of fine tuning them for the tournament.
Georgia has been playing pretty good too surprisingly enough
I use to love Happy Meals, now I love sushi, but I will always love Kentucky!
Thanks for the historical record stats!
.
Speaking of record comparisons, did I miss the post where people say what they think the score would be between the ’96 team and this one?
The two teams are close enough in time that a direct comparison could be made.

The 96 Team Would W But Closer Than You Think
7 or 8 point margin (maybe).

I agree
2010 Cats fail to inbound the ball and bring it up against the pressure. 96’ team would destroy any team with turnover problems.
"all the way"
I agree with this
I don’t think it’d even be close between this team and the 96 team. The talent is probably pretty similar, but the experience that 96 brought to the table was lightyears beyond this one.
Of course its difficult, its a shortcut... if it was easy it'd just be "the way."
