Defend The Big Blue Nation!!!!
Does the diabolical Bruce Pearl have John Calipari's number? Will the evil forces of the world of college basketball join to try and prevent our heroes from saving the Big Blue Nation from the mediocrity of being an also-ran?? Do we have an answer for all those critics out there who claim we should learn how to shoot first and ask questions later?
Can our heroes rise and overcome all of the obstacles which lie before them as well as the traps and pitfalls our archenemies have surely hidden in our path? What villainy awaits??
OK, maybe I spent too much time reading comic books as a kid. Maybe not. So, we are concerned that the Cats got their camouflage hats handed to them at Thompson-Boling yesterday. We should be, but not necessarily so. We have got to start learning how to take our second and third options when it comes to shooting. Every time Demarcus struggles this team gets that "deer in the headlights" look.
First I will say this, John Wall played great yesterday. Yes, he had a couple of turnovers, but he had to singlehandedly, (because no one else could hit water yesterday if they fell out of a boat), take on Tennessee. The team finally decided to get into the game about 30 minutes after it started. Wall should have had a triple double yesterday, because about 15 passes he made should have been assists, but they only ended up as either turnovers or missed shots. Now, like Tru, I couldn't stand the officiating yesterday, but it did go both ways, so that gets thrown out the window.
We are going to get fouled people. It is not always going to get called. This is no longer about Cousins and his "Rep". It is about the fact that we play a very physical, up tempo game and the referees cannot handle it. And neither can our opponents, so they resort to fouling and shoving and then it gets mouthy, and technicals get called and the next thing we know it is 15 rounds with Mike Tyson instead of a basketball game. That having been said, it is time to get past all of that and be ready for whatever happens. We almost won yesterday in spite of ourselves and our shortcomings, and that was great to see. But if everyone will buckle down, take the shots the defense gives them, and actually PLAY defense every possession, we will be fine. The defense let us down yesterday folks. Not the 3, not John Wall, and not Demarcus Cousins, it was the defense. Defense wins championships, but more importantly it wins games you should otherwise lose. We stumbled yesterday, we will recover.......and maybe we have learned something else about what we will have to do to win it all.
Stay tuned Big Blue Nation, we will be back next week........same Cat-time, same Cat-channel!!!!!

New Kind Of Cat Fan
I been a UK fan for just about all of my 48 years (the exception being the early years 0-3 or so) and after a loss like yesterday I would be totally deflated. But after the 4 years or so of misery that many of us endured before Coach Cal,I can take a loss somewhat better. The reason being because of that misery I can now better appreciate the success of this team. Yes I hate losing to Tenn. and Bruce Pearl, but I have seen UK teams just as talented go to Knoxsville and lose. And many times they lost to a Vols team that wasn’t anywhere near as good as this years UT team. It’s a rivalry so what happened yesterday is going to happen. Better it be to Vols team that is ranked and had already beat the #1 team in the country earlier. Yes this team has it faults and they make silly mistakes but how fun has it been this season?? I love it and I eat it up,every last second, good or bad, because March is upon us and in a few short weeks it will be over. I don’t know where it will end but I do know this season, for me anyway, will be remembered as one of my favorites. Regardless of what happens the rest of the way.

I think you speak for all of Big Blue Nation
Because I think we all feel about the same way. I think the BCG era opened up a lot of eyes. Big Blue Nation has always put our team way above everyone else and had ridiculous expectations. As sad as it makes me to say this: perhaps those crappy years were good for us as a whole because it made us realize that we’re way too demanding.
I still feel like 10 losses in a year is too much, but so do a lot of teams. But formerly at UK, we would feel that 1 loss was too many. :P I think that’s a big improvement. Right now we have 2 and nobody’s really complaining.
i just don't want any losses
in march or april…..
only one rule in my house - uk has to be your favorite college bball team

SECT Championship game lose wouldn't be so bad...
Getting there gives us a #1 seed in The Dance, and could possibly re-focus the team, ala ’96??
If your wings don't sweep....
Ditto .. here
For me though, it’s those times in the past of futility that make me hunger more for a winner and this is the best chance we’ve had in quite a while…. I hate to see us take the lumps like we have but, that’s part of learning. Like you, I savor every moment and hang on every play and I’ll look back on this season as one of the best. Hopefully, this game will mark a turning point and this team will realize it’s potential.
A win is a win, a loss is a loss
Like maysvilleblue said, I am a UK fan, always have been, always will be.
Winning or losing has never changed that. Never. :-)
I see little point in trying to pin the tail on a loss. It just happened, and I move on to the next. We have always had “missed” fouls. I suspect we always will.
Now ABC, I have to disagree with singlehandedly. We are a team.
