Around SBN: Jeremy Lin's Game-Winner Was Incredible, Worth Remembering

Brandon Knight

I just read on the ESPN page that Brandon Knight is done with UK. Has anyone heard anything? Where else did he want to go? I didn't see today's game, but from what I have read, it sounds as if we were outplayed. I am worried about March. I think our inexperience and lack of passion may get the best of us. We should beat Georgia and Florida, but nothing is a given.

I haven't heard anything

But Florida was high on his list…I heard a couple of weeks ago, it was a done deal, he was going to be a wildcat…

ESPN Says (Clipped)

What’s the latest with Brandon Knight?

Brandon Knight, one of the few guards who are still uncommitted in the 2010 class, told a Florida radio station (560WQAM) that he is close to making his college choice. “I took all my visits so far. Right now I’m just sitting back and weighing the pros and cons of each school. I’m hoping to make my decision pretty soon,” said Knight.

Knight said he would choose following his HS season and since his HS season ends in early March, that decision should happen in the following weeks. So that makes us wonder: is that why UK coach John Calipari visited Las Vegas over this past week to see Cory Joseph?

Knight also has Florida and Miami (Fl.) in his final list so perhaps Calipari and the rest of the Kentucky staff are feeling uneasy about their chances of landing the 6-foot-3 guard. Kentucky is also in the running for Josh Selby and Doron Lamb but, unlike in 2009 when Cal brought in a top recruiting class well in the offseason, maybe that doesn’t happen in 2010.

On their sports talk show this morning,a guest (not sure of his name, sorry) said he would be very surprised if Knight didn’t come to UK. He claimed he had sources (don’t they all) who thought Knight would make his announcement in the next couple of weeks and that it would be Kentucky. He also said Coach Cal would have another outstanding recruiting class, even though many Cat fans are all in a dither about maybe losing out on Knight and others. He said it’s typical of Cal to make a rush late with recruits.

I spoke with BK

and he is being coached to use the media to shed spotlight on himself and teams he is in the running for.

“It’s a win-win for everyone…well, not the fans, cause they are worrying and probably hurting each other over it, but hey! I gotta worry about my family and myself.”

“…I can’t say for sure obviously but I do know where I am going. Once the season is over I’ll make the decision and hopefully others won’t be too blue over my decision.”

So, my fellow Cat fans, I would hazard a guess that he is coming to UK but we won’t know until after NCAA Tourney is over with. He wants his name floated throughout the tourney anytime one of the teams he has listed comes up. Once focus is back on recruiting primarily again, he’ll give a couple of weeks and when the forge is hot enough he’ll strike the iron bell of decision day.

UK is THE spot for a point guard

IF you have a chance to run this team (as a point guard) it’s like being given the keys to a Ferrari … the TV exposure, the fans, great teammates – I’m sure he has pressure to stay in FLA, but there are too many pluses to pass up UK …

i don't know...

seems like by going to UF he gets a shot to play in new york at the end of the season as they seem to be NIT fixtures now….new york is the media capital of the world…

LOL

Of course its difficult, its a shortcut... if it was easy it'd just be "the way."

I still say it will be Florida.

Florida has more inside players along with two solid guards for next year. I believe Knight has just been working the system and it has always been Florida. Our front line with Orton and nobody else very big for next year might be a problem for us and Florida with Knight might be stronger than UK with Knight. Him and Boyton are close and they have always talked about playing together at Florida. He has said he wants to win and if he thinks he can win at Florida, he will stick with them. I HOPE I AM WRONG.

Cal..

Rarely has a large front line.. hence the DDMO. This year is an aboration more than anything.

You still need more than

one big that can play. I don’t think Jort is the answer as a backup to Orton. Plus this DDMO is no different that any other team that penetrates from what I have seen. We get much smaller next year without PP, Cuz, Wall, Stevenson, and Harris. There is a limit to how small you want to be.

I think you make strong points-

But, I really hope you are wrong…
