More hate from our neighbors to the North
Or, how to spice up a one sided rivalry: http://www.idsnews.com/news/story.aspx?id=73754

Sounds like sour grapes to me. Why isn't Mr. Knight still the coach there at IU? Is it because that he, like all the yardsticks in that piece, is outdated and he has worn thin?We would love to keep our players 4 years here at UK, just like Eric Gordon! Gordon is proof of the demise of good basketball in the NBA. I mean, if he is an NBA player, you know that the NBA is an all-potential league, with very few legitimate NBA teams in comparison, to say, 1980.Isn't that what we are doing here; comparing by gone eras to today? Also, when Coach Cal is personally convicted of NCAA wrongdoing; just let me know. We will write him off along with Kelvin Sampson. I would applaud Indiana for throwing stones in glass houses; but this level of hate and half-truths just spices up a UK/IU rivalry that IU's non-existent fans(more UK games on broadcast TV for UK than IU in INdy)can get their minds around.

Heh.
I hope these students aren’t planning to go into journalism or anything. That article is full of factual errors.

I think they have been getting into the Hatorade

First time I shot her, shot her in the side.
Hard to watch her suffer, but with the second shot she died...
Seriously?

There’s so much wrong with that statement I don’t know where to begin. Eric Gordon is 21 and has played 1 1/2 seasons in the NBA. Of course he is all potential. He’s twenty-freakin’-one. Give the kid a break and actually he’s doing OK. Very few players have impact that young in the league. James, Garnett, and Bryant are the only ones that come to mind. Wall might be next, but who knows. The NBA is an all potential league..really? Very few legitimate teams in the NBA…really?
However the article in question is laughable and ridiculous. I can’t even believe it was printed. Can’t believe you even give it a thought.
My guess is you don’t actually watch the NBA including the Pistons.
Just sayin’.

I watch the NBA and have for almost 40 years.
These teams now are a joke compared to even the Suns of the late 70’s. Players were polished , skilled players; complete pros. Kiki Vandeweigh would eat 99% of these guys just on pure basketball IQ. As far as the Pistons, I still watch them and root for them because they have Tayshaun Prince. Just to show you what an upside down world the NBA has become, lets talk about him. Even though he was the SEC player of the year, and an All-American at UK, he barely got a chance at the Pistons, and they drafted Darko Milichek ahead of him! They tried him in an emergency playoff situation and the rest is history. If he does not go off in that playoff series when he finally gets his chance, no dream team for Tayshaun, no Title for the Pistons.
"all the way"
I get your point
the NBA is watered down (too many teams and too many 19 YO players), but there are some great teams and great players with high b-ball IQs. Nash, Nowitzki come to mind and just thinking about my team here in Portland we have very high IQ players-Andre Miller, Juwon Howard, and the recently added Marcus Camby. Not sure the teams of the 70s would roll over the teams today. Your point about Prince is taken with a grain of salt. Conference player of the year and All-American status doesn’t necessarily translate to the NBA and some would say Darko hasn’t been given a chance to show what he can do in the NBA. Just because he didn’t play college ball in the US doesn’t mean he he’s not as good as others. Plus, who really knew Prince was going to turn into that kind of player? I can’t remember anybody predicting that. It’s an unknown and people are making guesses at a lot of things. Me thinks you is a bit biased…

Maybe a little biased
but on court performance is one aspect that they DID know about Tayshaun; and he was still an afterthought. It is well known by now that Tayshaun has one of the most complete, all-around games in the league. I proffer that is the result of staying four years at a top notch institution playing for a real coach, who teaches usable skills.

OK...

I guess you are referring to UK (basketball institution, not the academic side of the actual school right?) during the Tubby Smith (real coach/usable skills) era.
I here you there. I would prefer getting good in state talent that is a bit under the radar. Those kids will grow and develop, have a real relationship with the fanbase and if they are in state they understand more what the program means and will want to try even harder and stay longer. UofL would have been stuck with Sebestian Telfair for a year and Jeremy Tyler (didn’t even finish high school) in recent years. Give me Preston Knowles and Ed O’Bannon any day.
What about Wall and Cousins?
Current Wildcat coach is the king of the one and done. It’s kind of scary to think of. UCLA is terrible now because of the load of one and done kids they have had.
Just sayin’.
