We were discussing this in the other Harline post
Like I said there, consequences are sometimes not kind.
I hope we get to see Mossy as well. And Mister Cobble.

What a shame for Mike
I wish him the best in whatever endeavor he pursues or whatever fate may have instore for him.

Minter new CO-DC
According to wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rick_Minter
Larry Vaught's Twitter says it's going to be Randy Shannon.

that would be interesting...maybe we could some guys from the Miami area
that may fall through the cracks
Slower Traffic Keep Right!
Shannon would be a MASSIVE upgrade in the recruiting department.
Miami had Top 25 classes every year he was at Miami.

Larry has backed off that as of now.
His source is “certain” it is Minter.

Word is that Steve Pardue and Rick Minter
Were at practice yesterday and are the new running backs coach and co-Defensive Cooridnator, respectively. Larry Vaught is reporting sources say Randy Shannon will join the staff tomorrow.

Tough Lesson
I have to say I am not all that suprised. I knew that this would not be treated as a non-issue by the coach as it seemed to be by the fans.

BC, I couldn't agree more.
It does take guts when half the state is up in arms that you were “coach in waiting” and two thirds of the rest are disappointed in the season. To bench a guy who’s played pretty well and go in with less experience at QB takes guts, no question about it. I support him, regardless of the outcome of the game.

We need to support him. It’s obvious he is a man of great integrity and that’s a rarity nowadays.
I think he’s going to catch a lot of heat after this game, no matter the outcome.
His response to the recent fighting, and now this, puts me even deeper in his corner.

Seven, I usually agree with you,
but I’ve got to respectfully disagree this time. A tough lesson to learn, but better now than later.

Agree 100% with suspending Hartline
Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel, is just a freight train coming your way...
@btcoop71
Agreed
Had to be done IMO.

Lets try to be realistic
By suspending Hartline, which is probably appropriate, UK has now just a very slim chance to win this bowl. We were 2.5 point underdogs before it happened.
Nick
I agree.
Im not real upset about it though. The fact that we are even in a bowl is ridiculous IMO. (And yes I know that it is due to the way bowls are set up – money and all that – doesnt change how I feel.)
Realistically this team has earned a losing season.

If UK
was the only team with a 6 & 6 record in a bowl game, I might agree somewhat but we are just playing within the rules of the current system. It has now become great opportunity for this team to prepare for the next season. I can’t agree with earning a losing season when you look at the teams who beat us.
I woke up feeling BLUE this morning. It's gonna be a great day.
Thats what I mean
The rules of the current system are bunk – IMO. ANY team with a 6-6 record is undeserving of a bowl game. I am so disgusted with the overall system of collegiate football period that to me – the season is already over thankfully. I hope next season is better but I doubt it. I am just not in the pro-Joker camp. He’s doing the best he can, but I remain of the opinion that until we have a big name coach, we are never going to be anything in football – especially because of the conference we are in. I also dont believe it is impossible to think we could have a big name coach. Money talks and is obviously not something UK is short on. In the words of our former President Donovan, “There is nothing wrong with UK athletics that money cant fix,” which is right before he brought us Bear Bryant.

One thing
That I think gives Joker an advantage over a big name coach is understanding this program. I think it is a Kroger commercial in which Joker says that part of his flesh is on this field, literally. Because of that, he deserves a little time. Remember, Joe B was not fully welcomed at first. I think Joker is trying to insert the best recruits and coaches to take the program where we all think it should and can be. Sometimes all it takes is a little change to a recipe to make it the best thing we ever tasted.

I don't think we can
jump to this conclusion. Now is the time for Newton to have his breakout game and send us into next season with renewed optimism. Can’t say that he will, but the bowl game certainly got a lot more interesting for UK fans and a great opportunity for Newton (or Mossy) to prepare for next year.

Newton
I was really hoping that he would be our starting QB this season. I was SUPER disappointed when it was annoucned that it would be Hartline.

I believe we would
still be at least 6 & 6 if Newton had played all season and maybe even better than that. We will now have to see what he can do with the team in his hands. That is why I think that the way circumstances have played out will be for the best in the long run. Whether we win or lose the bowl game, it will be the official coming out party for Newton. I am anxious to see if he will rise to the occasion. The bowl will certainly be worth watching now.

Yeah, you're right.
The “interesting meter” might not be pegged full-scale, but it’s jumped well into the high zone. Hartline played much better than most of us thought this year, but the way I look at it, Joker didn’t take this opportunity away from him. He did it to himself.

Before Hartline's misadventures,
the story line would be about the end of his career and how would a below average SEC team do against an above average Big East team. Now it is all about the changing of the guard and a glimpse of the future. Far more entertaining in my book. We should look at it as an early OOC matchup the likes of which we should have during the regular season.

Wineman, as I read your comment,
I got to thinking that folks who grew up when we did might be a bit more inclined to look to the future (even though we have, presumably, less of it) than some of the younger fans. On the one hand, we’re a generation or two closer to the Great Depression effect, and secondly, there’s somewhat of an instant gratification effect post-Boomer.
But you are right about it being more entertaining. If Hartline is in and we win, we can beat our chests till the next BB loss. If Newton is in and we win, we can do the same till next FB season.

I just celebrated #64 and I
can tell you that the instant gratification effect is looking better all of the time!
I woke up feeling BLUE this morning. It's gonna be a great day.
Yeah, I'm five months behind you
and, if looking in the mirror this AM is any indication, I’ll be catching you pretty soon!!!!!!
