My picks are...

Michigan in an upset…
Duke at home…
Minnesota on the road…

But I’m rooting for…
Uconn, to help UK’s RPI…
Wake, because I HATE Duke…
Indiana, again to help UK’s RPI…

Steelers fan 1st! UK is my 2nd love.

Cats

Just think that if Texas A & M had beat Texas last night,UK would have been ranked #1. Not sure that would have been the best thing for this young team but it sure would have felt good!!

by maysvilleblue on Jan 17, 2010 2:13 PM EST reply actions

Would have felt good until we succumed to the pressure ourselves...

Bad enough being undefeated, but #1 to boot?? Let Texas carry that cross until April, then we’ll gladly relieve them of it!! :-)

Hoops for Haiti....

I haven’t watched the entire telethon, but I did witness 3 big time coaches call in and donate…

Tubby Smith
Rick Barnes
Tom Izzo

All 3 gave $1,000…!!!

Says a lot about all those fine coaches…. IMO

Steelers fan 1st! UK is my 2nd love.

by vinceuk1 on Jan 17, 2010 2:52 PM EST reply actions

Yes it does

I am very proud of these coaches. Love my Tubby Smith. What a class act. Now, if only the cowboys would turn it around today it would be good.

by tenken on Jan 17, 2010 2:54 PM EST up reply actions

Another big time coach comes through...

Jim Boeheim called to give $5,000…!!!

Sounds like he and Cal are very close…

Just called in a donated $1,000…

Says we are almost as good as Duke…. ;)

banned from cardchronicle

as a fan of college b-ball, I`m often on other teams fan sites. I logged onto CC about a week ago, reading them bash their players, using words spoken on a pirate ship and so on. I announced as a cat fan I understood about teams under performing(last several years). The guy overseeing the conversation, Mike Rutherford welcomed me, ask me to be polite and respect others. I agreed, after a few minutes of dialogue, he asked me how the NIT was last year, I responded by saying you will find out in March. I was immediately banned from participating in that site. I`ve seen oposing fans on ASOB with worse posts than that and its taken as fun bantering. Its a shame that CC and Mike Rutherford cannot be the same. Thanks ASOB for a place to partipate as a fan.

What you just referred to is called baiting by the moderators on the SB Nation sites....

it is generally frowned upon and unacceptable behavior, but you also usually get a warning first. You must have caught Mike on a bad day. He is not a completely unreasonable guy, but they are a bit sensitive right now, considering their team’s play the last couple weeks.

You will find Tru to be a more temperate personality, but baiting will bring the ire of ASOB upon you here as well, unless it is meant in the spirit of fun and games as we do here.

Just dont say anything bad about ANYTHING Kentucky…..and you’ll be fine…….lol.

Remember, we're having fun now!!!

Lets get it on!!!!

Evidentally that is what they do

I was only reading it one night, I think during one of their game threads. A UK fan was there being really nice and the comments were…flag ’em, flag ’em. The poster had identified themselves as a UK fan and said they were only there to share the thread. I left after a couple of ugly comments towards the enemy. Not a nice place like this one. :-)

Go back and read the game thread from the UK/UL game on CC

It is hilarious…..as long as you don’t get offended easy…

First time I shot her, shot her in the side.
Hard to watch her suffer, but with the second shot she died...

I am surprised Tru you didnt list the Lady Cats against Alabama as a game for this afternoon

it has been an excellent game so far at halftime as the Lady Cats are up by 9 at the half. I have to confess this has become a regular part of our Sunday afternoons this season, and I have seen some really great play by the ladies. They seem to have some balance, decent outside shooting, and if they can improve on their inside passing and ball handling they will be unbeatable themselves.

The telethon was excellent, got to speak to Daniel Orton upon calling in….(the guys are still manning the phones until 4:30 I believe).

How Coach Cal got the free time to pull this together in the middle of January is beyond me. He is truly amazing day after day…….wouldnt mind having that watch of his either!!!

10K for a watch……man am I in the wrong business…….lol

Remember, we're having fun now!!!

Called in to telethon as well. No players available when call went through...

And are you going to arrange for the loan for whomever to pay for it?????......lol.......

Not for me, of course…….but to put Forty under that kind of a strain…..????……hehehe……guess we better leave it at a photo……lol

Remember, we're having fun now!!!

by ALLBLUCAT on Jan 17, 2010 4:17 PM EST up reply actions

what a coincidence!

I got through and was able to speak to Daniel Orton also! This was the closest experience I’ve ever had when it comes to up-close and personal experiences involving UK coaches/players, and as much as I would’ve liked to talk to Wall, Patterson, or Big Cuz, I still loved the opportunity I had to speak with Orton.

It won't last, but it's news here in Virginia

That UVA is the lone undefeated team in the ACC today! They finally have a real coach again.

Cats RPI Takes Hits

UConn goes down to UM, UNC loses their 6th, UL loses gain: UK’s signature wins aren’t all that impressive anymore and getting less so.

by a2d2 on Jan 17, 2010 4:31 PM EST up reply actions

I know

grrrrr…….the only good thing is that they are teams that we don’t care for too much. I think North Carolina is the most suprising. They had a great class coming into this season. I think that it shows what a great job Cal has done with our own young kittens.

by tenken on Jan 17, 2010 5:02 PM EST up reply actions

This year that shouldn't matter as much

The Cats have been good enough and should continue to be good enough that the RPI won’t prevent them from getting a 1 or 2 seed. The past 4-5 years (yeah, even 2005 to some extent) they needed some help with the RPI to go along with their record to either get in or improve their seed.

3 > 2, except for very large values of 2.

Lady Cats D Brings Win

UK’s women’s basketball team’s defense which failed in Columbia was back to its dominating self in pounding Bama 86-63.

Great video. Definitely brings a smile. Whenever we fans get frustrated with freshman mistakes...

during a game… this video brings it back to reality. Cuz, Wall and Bledsoe are just kids themselves having fun. Parker (the baby) was in some “good” hands. :)

Hoosiers Win 81-78 OT

All told it was an entertaining game — IU dominated boards 40-21.

Sounded like 2 teams trying to allow the other team to W (to me).

John Wall did not play particularly well against Auburn

but it didn’t stop us from running one of our more “complicated” plays with under 2:00. I think the play is called “Speed Kills”.

on wall...

i think the last two games, Cal has been more deliberate to take him out and let bledsoe run the offense by himself. maybe that is by design and maybe it is because wall has been sick. either way, i think it helps us later in the season – both when wall has to sit due to fouls (or cramps) or if cal wants to move wall to the 2 because of the defense being played against us…

UK Dynasty

Cats cheerleaders win 18th national title — and 14 of last 16. Is that not a dynasty?
