The Big Blue Daily Mail -- And I Do Mean Big!
For the last couple of days, I have been engaged with lots of blogging, but not the daily mail post. I am going to catch up right now, and this thing is huge. So if you are a night owl, or have a lot of time on your hands, I will send you places that will amuse and amaze you over the two hours it would likely take to read this whole thing.
So let's get right to it:

The truth of the matter is UK has been a slow-starting team for some time now. As was first pointed out by Brett Dawson of the Courier-Journal, the Wildcats have been outscored 139-44 in the past 16 first quarters dating back to last year's season opener.

Dr. Saturday's Doug Gillett offers the benediction to our loss at Florida, reminding us that redemption is still possible. As usual after a devastating loss, though, it's a little tough to embrace that hope right now. -

Kentucky and Florida wrap-up
I was never more embarrassed as a UK fan to watch some of our idiot and ridiculous fanbase cheer when Tim Tebow went down. I don't mind the initial reaction to the hit, but to see UK fans laughing and joking about Tebow laying motionless on the field was not only disrespectful, but ridiculous. You can hate Florida, you can hate the publicity and you can even hate the amount of facetime Tim Tebow gets, but to cheer when a guy that does everything the right way and is truly a role model to look up to is beyond stupid.

Initial Impressions from the Arkansas Game - Roll 'Bama Roll
You could effectively go on all day rattling off dirty play after dirty play by Arkansas. It was easily the dirtiest game I've seen any opponent play against Alabama since Southern Miss in 2005, and honestly even the Golden Eagles had nothing that night that could hold a candle to what Arkansas showed today. Petrino ought to be ashamed of himself, and frankly he ought to be thankful Saban called off the dogs late.
Wow, strong words from OTS about Petrino's team. That's another reason why I loathe Petrino deep down in my soul. I saw some of that game, and some of the blocks were obviously illegal. Of course, that's only one side of the story, but as I said, you don't have to work to convince me that Petrino coaches dirty football. I detest that guy. Nothing but love for the Hogs, but man, I dislike their coach. Just a personal thing. -

UK Basketball: This Weekend Practices!
Reading this made me even more excited about the upcoming basketball season.
Patterson is in amazing shape. He is faster, stronger, more explosive, and really looks like a different players. He will be an All-American this year, if he isn’t I be shocked.
He’s quickly becoming one of my favorite players for so many reasons. Just 32 days, 5 hours, 17 mins and 18 seconds! haha
I am sooooo excited too......
I don’t that PPat has received all the recognition he deserves. The guy is a monster player.
Here is a link to Standard Tendex Rating of Kentucky Players since 1979 (By Game). The formula for this is really simple but it supposedly has worked for years. This is how the ratings are calculated. Standard Tendex Rating = {[Points + Rebounds + Assists + Steals + Blocks – Turnovers – Missed Field Goals – Missed Free Throws] divided by / Minutes / Game Pace} There is a link on this page of Jon Scott’s that tells how the formula works….anyway……
PPat is a great player and I am so glad he is back this year. I am going to be real upset if we do not honor him on Senior Day should things go as he has planned. 3 years and playing bball at UK is hard work. He should receive recognition, just my opinion. GO CATS ! !
:-)
Blue... there is no other color to Bleed !!!
I think we still haven't seen Patrick Patterson at his best.
The broken ankle hangs over his freshman year like a dark cloud, his sophomore season ended in an NIT appearance. His jr year is going to be outstanding, though.
That Tendex thing is pretty interesting, thanks for sharing.
This is the point of the year where I have ants in my pants big time. I CAN’T WAIT for the season to start.
I think you're absolutely right.
It will be great to see Patterson fully healthy, fully ready for a season. Last year, he started out in a conditioning hole. This year, I don’t think that will be the case.

Cousins!
That practice report on Mr. Cousins has me absolutely giddy as well.

Chris Diggs' article
I wasn’t at the game, but on TV it sure sounded quiet to me once everybody saw Tebow wasn’t getting up.
It really did.
There are always a few people acting silly, but I’m sure it was a tiny minority.
A Sea of Blue -- Kentucky Sports for the Discerning Fan
Agreed -- the crowd was quiet after Tebow went down
I am proud of all the people who helped Tim, the Tebow’s, UF staff, etc. I don’t know any of them, but God Bless ‘em. Competition seems to be wired into the human condition. At least most of us know when to quit and offer assistance. And that’s a good thing.

Calipari To Wife: Most Talented Team Ever
Quite a pronouncement from Coach. Initial team response: great! Overconfidence a result? Time will tell.

Overconfidence....maybe?
But it didn’t stop me from doing my happy dance…..hahaha……Thanks for the link WW. I really enjoyed it. Sent to everyone I know, too…..

That's some proclamation for a coach to make this early in the year
I may be needing counseling to keep from blowing up right now…..this is going to be something
Remember, we're having fun now!!!
I Agree > This Will Be His Most Talented Team (1 Thru 13)
But talent doesn’t necessarily equal results.
The 2002 Cats were the most “talented” UK team since 1996 but went 22-10.
The 1981-82-83 Cats were enormously talented yet were 67-24 over 3 years.

Calipari's History
Is one of being able to productively mentor highly-talented players. Other coaches find such players a challenge beyond their style and acumen.
"The principle of spending money to be paid by posterity, under the name of funding, is but swindling futurity on a large scale."
—Thomas Jefferson
Actually Not So
Calipari has had few successes with “high talented” players. His better luck was mentoring “under the radar” or lesser known/rated players.
At UMass, Marcus Camby was his only “high talent” player.
Memphis, he coached Derrick Rose and Tyreke Evans but guys like DuJuan Wagner or Darius Washington never reached their star (A-A) potential under him.

Awwww.....relax Forty
when we win it all we are only going to make you put that pic up of you in that Louisville hat on the site for a year or so…..hehehe…..
Remember, we're having fun now!!!
Calipari Is A Superb Coach
But he has never had talent (top to bottom of the roster) like he’ll have at UK.
He took good players at UMass and Memphis and made them great.
He’ll have great players to start at UK. He’ll make them better.

Well ...
… to be fair, Wagner only spent one year in the college game when he arguably should have spent at least one more.

Low makes the comment in UK discussion: "If the Wildcats continue to make those kinds of mistakes and look that sloppy on offense, they can forget about making it to a bowl game for the third straight season. "

only one rule in my house - uk has to be your favorite college bball team
One question
I purchased a Blackberry earlier this week in an effort to keep my life in some semblance of control. One of the neato features that came as a surprising bonus for me was the fact that it has NFL Mobile Live. I set the Forty Niners as my preferred team and then started scrolling through the content only to discover that much of it was provided by the SB Nation Niners affiliate.
Tru… how can we get ASoB on our mobile phones?!!? I want Truzenzuzex Mobile Live! Its very own channel on the Sprint TV icon on my phone! I want Ken Howlett’s face as the icon! I want random unrelated statistics from 40yrcatfan at my fingertips! I want surly dejected attitudes from Paris while I’m in the bathroom! I want Tinkerbell to uplift my spirits when I’m lost in the middle of nowhere but still have service somehow!
Can you get on that for me? ;-)
Of course its difficult, its a shortcut... if it was easy it'd just be "the way."
Ah... just got a response from the guy at NN
Its a new thing. He was actually going to post something about it later in the week. (Seems I let the cat out of the bag… Ooops!) Apparently they signed some sort of endorsement deal with Sprint. Fascinating.
