The Big Blue Daily Mail -- Florida Hangover Edition

There's not much really left to highlight about the disastrous UK-Florida game on Saturday, so this is about the last you'll be hearing of it.  The status is that Tebow has a concussion but should be okay, Rich Brooks is still taking the blame for the failure of the team to even remotely compete, and contrary to rumor the Alabama game this coming Saturday has not been postponed due to the unnatural pain and suffering inflicted on our proud university by the Gator football team.  We'll be there, for whatever comes.

I will be doing some stuff with the 'Bama blog on SB Nation this week, so you can look forward to that.  It is always kind of cool when we play the Crimson Tide, because they are quite possibly the only fans I know of that are as passionate about their team as Kentucky fans are, even if it is in different sports.  We'll have lots more on the Tide during this week.

Now, for the news.

  • Perkins says brawls are ‘a black eye’ for KU - Kansas City Star
Kansas has become fair game for ridicule by rivals and recruiting opponents, and all it can do is take it. Told that Kentucky basketball coach John Calipari and football coach Rich Brooks had communicated something to the effect of this doesn’t happen at our school, all Perkins could say is, "I respect that. If it doesn’t happen at other schools, great. I can only comment on what happened at our school."

    Oh, schadenfreude!

Derrick Locke will regret doing that.....

frustration makes us stupid sometimes…..

Glad to see that Robinson kid is on his way……we need him.

I am not sure why the offense doesnt practice against the 1st team defense now, but it sounds like it would be a good idea if you want to know if they are any good….on either side of the ball.

Selby, Poole, Payne….could this be another superstar recruiting class???……man I am really liking this Calipari guy….lol

Speaking as a UK fan, I can tell you now that I felt like Tebow should not have been in that game at all……of course I felt that way when I saw the schedule come out…..he IS graduating isn’t he??

My sister and brother-in-law have seen Bama play this year in person….they are scarier than everyone thinks….and everyone thinks they are scary….of course they are Bama fans…..maybe they are missing some chink in the Tide’s armor….but I doubt it.

John Daly and John Calipari…..now that is 18 holes I would pay big time money to play….anyone else want in on that foursome?…..I wont even take my clubs if they dont want me to…lol

If Pitino’s wife, Pitino’s pastor, Pitino’s family, etc. can forgive him…..everyone else needs to get on board…..I dont condone it, and I am far from understanding it, but it’s time to move on and let the man deal with this between himself and the Almighty…..God forgives, but unfortunately not everyone else can find it in themselves to do the same??…..let it go people…..

Remember, we're having fun now!!!

bama

i’m really worried about this one. they can run the ball. we gave up 300+ yards of rushing to Florida. Uh-oh.

Still looking forward to the game, though. Two pals from Birmingham are making the trip for their inaugural visit to Commonwealth.

Agree on Tebow

With as big a lead as they had (that coupled with our showing NO signs of being any kind of threat to make a comeback), the little amount of time left in the game, and their STAR sick with a (reported) upper respiratory infection, there was no need for Tebow to be in the game at that point. He should have been sitting down and resting up for the next one – IMO.

Disclaimer: It still totally sucks that Tebow was injured and I hope he recovers quickly.

It is not worth an intelligent man’s time to be in the majority. By definition, there are already enough people to do that.

I can't believe there are people...

….who think the hit on Tebow was dirty

http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/story/12273664

First time I shot her, shot her in the side.
Hard to watch her suffer, but with the second shot she died...

No surprise to me.

It never matters how clean the hit is, there are always people who will claim it was dirty.

I can't believe someone actually suggested that in an article

The hit was textbook and clean as can be- face up in the chest. It’s tackle football – what do they expect him to lightly push Tebow down? It was a freak event – if Gilbert wasn’t right behind Tebow when it happened, then Tebow would have likely jumped up very quickly (as he usually does when he gets hit hard), congratulated Wyndham on a nice hit (also as he usually does when hit hard), and run back for the next play.

No doubt.

That is all so. It was just an unfortunate bit of timing that caused Tebow’s head to strike another player’s knee.

Have you read the comments? The fans universally … umm… disagree with any suggestion that the hit was anything but clean.

Had to work during the game

but have seen the replay a million times. 100 percent clean hit.

by don'tshootmei'macard on Sep 28, 2009 10:51 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah.

98% of the Florida fans I have read agree it was clean. Hell, 98% of football fans I have read agree it was clean.

I think we have reached a consensus, for what it’s worth. :-)

Really?

There are LSU fans that want Miles out?

Been going on awhile.

Weird, maybe, but there you go.

Underachieved

There is always irrational exuberance in fan expectations. Having said that I do believe that LSU performance has underachieved its talent level: Tigers have averaged a top 5 class over last 5 years. Losing Bo Bellini hurt most as the defense has particularly underperformed.

afterall miles won his NC with another coach's players....

sound familiar???

Seriously, if LSU loses 4 games, Miles will be gone, IMO. may happen at 9-3 if they lose a bowl game.

Michigan wanted him pretty bad before they settled on Dick Rod

I’m sure we could find him a place next door to Calipari. ;-)

Of course its difficult, its a shortcut... if it was easy it'd just be "the way."
