Ol' Ball Coach Does It Again

Steve Spurrier is claiming another victory over a ranked opponent this morning after his Gamecocks beat Mississippi 16-10 last night. When asked about the win he compared it to beating, you guessed it, Kentucky in 2007 when we had our highest ranking in decades at #8.

Star-divide

The article comes from Gregg Doyel's assessment of Mississippi being GROSSLY overrated at #4. As much as some of Doyle's nonsense irritates me, he is dead on with this one. Mississippi had no business being ranked in the top 10 this early in the season. Top 25, maybe, and move them up if they beat someone, but Doyle seems to think it was the entire world falling under some sort of spell concocted by Mel Kiper over at ESPN. Or possibly it was the SEC juggernaut that was at fault, but either way, SC didnt beat that good of a team. Jevan Snead has holes in his game that a really good defensive plan will exploit. And as much as Spurrier likes to make his offense the star of the game, this one he has to hand to his defense. I just loved the fact that Spurrier when questioned has UK on the brain.......think he is looking at us harder this year?.....probably not, since he seems to own us, but who knows??....if the experts were all wrong about Ol' Miss.....maybe they were wrong about us too??

Let's hope Spurrier's Program Hasn't 'Turned The Corner'

Yea, who does Spurrier think he is? Beating a ranked team on a Thursday night, being the only show in town. National audience. I bet he thinks that helped his recruiting.
Us here at Kentucky, we know players don’t want a national audience all to ourselves. We reserve that for the basketball team.
We’re easing into our schedule. But boy, when we do step into deep water, we go big time. I saw he mentioned playing the Cats when they we ranked in the top ten. We should be proud he remembers us. Let’s just hope he doesn’t remember us to well before get there this year. But hey, wins over the Gators and Tide will make us something he needs to be concerned with.

Does anyone know

why he has such a big chip on his shoulder about UK? He never passes on a chance to take a shot at them.
