How's The SEC Doing So Far? Pretty Well

As usual, I'm going to be periodically updating everyone on how the SEC is doing in the conference wars.  This is a fairly early season update, but three games represents one quarter of the season, and it would seem to me that an update would be in order about now.

So how is the SEC doing?  Pretty well so far:

Do you think this will hold up?

Not only will it hold up, it may be a runaway this year.....with the exception of

Miami, and honestly I still think the jury is out on them….no one outside the SEC is showing a lot to anyone yet….UCLA beating Tenn was probably to be expected, but the rest of the season is mostly conference play, and there is no stronger conference than the SEC this year.Ole Miss, Bama, and even LSU could all still be there when the dust settles with Florida….the only thing the SEC has to worry about this year is beating up on themselves.

Remember, we're having fun now!!!

SEC

I think the SEC has two very good teams in ’Bama and Florida, with the rest having major flaws either offensively, defensively, or a weakness at a particular position.

South Carolina over NC State didn’t excite me (both teams looked pathetic), and Tennessee losing to a mediocre UCLA team at home is probably a sign of UT struggling this year, at least on the offensive side of the ball.

Oklahoma State beating Georgia could also be a sign that the SEC may not be as deep as in previous years. Georgia’s defense leaves muuuuch to be desired evidenced by them giving up points in bunches to Arkansas.

I do think Auburn is going to be better than most thought. With a healthy Chris Todd, and Kodi Burns being used out of the Wildcat Formation, the Tiger offense seems to have come back from the dead (they’re in the top 5 in rushing offense in the nation).

Taking a wait-and-see attitude toward LSU. Beating Washington looks to be a solid victory, but their QB questions still exist, for me at least.

Ole Miss is a mystery to me. They could be very good, but then again, they may not. Snead’s numbers so far this year are unimpressive, and they haven’t beaten anyone of note.

It’s just bad luck for UK that they have ‘Bama and Florida at home this year instead of Georgia and South Carolina. I would gladly switch those games. Maybe I’ll give Mike Slive a call and see what he can do about that :)
