Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

WildcatfaninDC (or some such) linked this article in one of the threads, but I thought it was worth its very own fanshot.

Many of us here have referenced the case of Corey Maggette and Myron Piggie in light of the recent Memphis brew-ha-ha. I was unaware of any articles more recent than 2004 on the subject.

Parrish updates us and compares the situation with Maggette's eligibility with that of Derrick Rose.

Complete BS!

This reeks of a double standard and how the NCAA can possibly justify this is beyond me.

Agree

Its been an “open investigation” since sometime in 2001 I believe.

8 years with no findings when there’s sworn legal testimony of violations for Duke, and less than 8 months for the nebulous SAT investigation at Memphis.

Of course, Duke isn’t alone in their immunity. Look at Southern Cal football. Its been all but confirmed that Reggie Bush took money while he was in school, but USC hasn’t had to vacate titles and to my knowledge, Bush has not returned his Heisman.

Of course its difficult, its a shortcut... if it was easy it'd just be "the way."

Southern Cal still undergoing active investigation.

The NCAA announced in April they were combining probes into Reggie Bush and OJ Mayo purportedly to see if the schools lacks “institutional control.” (Yes, obviously). The NCAA is also callobarating with the FBI, which should give you a sense of the scale of corruption. Those closely following the story believe the Bush investigation is largely complete, but the Mayo probe has yet to be finalized.

Other pending NCAA investigations:

Renardo Sidney’s recruitment
UCONN’s purported connection of agent in the recruitment of Josh Miles
Ex-KU starts Darrell Arthur supposed ineligibility (note if the NCAA vacates KU’s title is like the season that never existed?)
Ex-Syracuse player Donte Greene’s 50K loan
