Big Blue Daily Mail -- All Over the Map
I know the Big Blue Daily Mail hasn't exactly been "daily" in a while. Mostly, that is due to me working on a couple of really huge projects that take up a tremendous amount of my time, and have seriously curtailed my blogging. I promise this is not a permanent situation, but it will continue for a while yet. So for those of you who miss the daily BBDM, I promise it will return fairly soon -- hang in there. Real life often has a negative impact on my posting, but I have not lost my passion either for blogging or for the Wildcats.
With that out of the way, today's top stories will be Wildcat-related, not Pitino-related, and it will be that way (hopefully, barring some other credible revelation) forever. Coach Calipari has recently asked (without providing quotations) that UK fans be on their best behavior when Louisville comes to town for our annual basketball tilt. I hope that happens, but I don't think it's realistic, and Calipari obliquely threatening not to coach the game if fans misbehave shows the depth of his misunderstanding of the intensity of this rivalry. All I can say is, he had better have his assistant coaches ready to go.
On the football front, Rich Brooks is telling us what anyone who follows SEC football already knew -- neither Morgan Newton or Ryan Mossakowski are anywhere near ready to take on the job of being a starting quarterback in hte SEC, even at Kentucky. Both these guys will eventually be very good, but this year, I don't expect to see much of them.

UK media relations asked the media to not ask Calipari about the Rick Pitino situation, per the coach's request. I guess I don't blame him. I don't think any good could come from him weighing in on the situation. There are lots of other nice tidbits in here, too. -

The Long Knives Are Out
Adrian Wojnarowski has interesting and entertaining commentary with some wonderfully witty jabs:
Success is a choice, his best-selling book blared.
Apparently, so is self-destruction.

There were many accusations to wojn-somethings article
any of this true?… did he try for the King’s job? Was he Boston’s aging prom queen? Though I think Rick’s got some issues, I’d like facts.

UK - UL,Coach Cal vs. Slick Rick
Will RP even be the Card’s coach by the time that game rolls around? I don’t think he will make it through the upcoming season. The whole mess keeps gettin’ worse in my opinion.

Pipelines for recruits
Hey I love the pipeline from Central in Louisville and especially the Georgia pipeline. Good job Joker. If no one else in the SEC wants these kids, send them to UK. We love them. And will develop their skills for the NFL. Fact.
The road trip test?
I would take Brooks anyday with his Makers lol. The entire thing was very funny.
The UK fans being nice in Rupp
I really dont want to think about it. I just hope that most will show some class and respect for Pitino.
Being "nice" to Pitino at Rupp
Not going to happen. Like it or not, when a school, player, or coach is involved in some sort of scandal or bad publicity, rival schools ALWAYS have fans that make goading signs/shirts, start chants, etc. Cal is going to piss a lot of people off if he pulls the whole “leave the floor and refuse to coach” thing. I totally get what he’s saying – doesnt want people to take it too far – but dont know if threatening to boycott coaching the game is a good plan at all.
It is not worth an intelligent man’s time to be in the majority. By definition, there are already enough people to do that.

just saying I think that would be A BIG MISTAKE!

What else would he do knowing the rivalry?
Would you want a killing at Rupp? Because I can honestly see that happening from a anti-aborttion fan. Can you?
I know a lot of students and younger fans willl net heed Calipari’s suggestions, but they should for the sake of the University and our reputation as the greatest ever.
I think this is a bit dramatic - IMO.
You have the right to your opinion as do I.

Just to be clear
My thoughts were just on “funny” shirts, signs, and chants not murder, death, or killing.

It’s time to back off and let this go.

Offense Clicks In First Scrimmage
Hartline makes all the throws; receivers catch nearly all; 2 long scoring drives. Defense? Well that’s another story.
