Marquette #1 class 2009

Clark Francis over at Hoop Scoop magazine(based in Louisville) ranks Marquette the #1 recruitng class in the nation for 2009.He ranks the UK incoming class at #2.So far, MU has signed (3) 4 star players and (1) 3 star player. They have zero 5 star players in this class.I know the debate has come up that UK's 2009 class is one of the best recruiting classes of all time.UK has inked (4) 5 star players along with (2) 4 star players.

Francis Doesn't Want To Break Streak ...

Of Never Having Been Correct. First time I’ve seen his name mentioned (probably because I make it a point to ignore) in months, perhaps years.

"The prosperity of commerce is now perceived and acknowledged by all enlightened statesmen to be the most useful as well as the most productive source of national wealth, and has accordingly become a primary object of its political cares."

--Alexander Hamilton, Federalist No. 12, 27 November 1787

HoopScoop

Grades more on quantity than quality of recruits.

We have five incoming freshman not including Dodson

Four 5 stars and one four star.

I think that settles that dispute.

Wonder why Bledsoe is rated so low

5* Wall and Cousins are a 10,yet 5* Bledsoe is only a 4 in Francis “ranking system” ?

by -Zoso- on Jul 6, 2009 8:27 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

He Rates Bledsoe In 71-100 Range

4 points for that range.

Wall and Cousins are both Top 1-5 range.

10 points for that range.

They don't

but then again, recruiting is the lifeblood of any program.UoL’s incoming class is rated #26,just behind WKU at #20.

Pitino Had Several Recruiting Classes At UK Rated 26th Or Lower

His classes in 1991, 1993, 1996, and 1997 were not rated in Top 25.

I don’t remember many complaints then. Why complain now?

Pestering = Stalking/Baiting

Tru, seems to me that this is an admission of consciously breaking a Community Rule.

Stalking: Stalking is responding to every post of a particular poster, and works the same way as baiting. It is completely unnecessary to try to get the last word in on every argument, and when I see that happening, you will receive an admonishment.

Pestering

equals being a Hozeking.

I dont respond to EVERY post you make and occasionally when you make a valid point I’ll even agree with you. I do take the time to respond to every pestering point you make that i say. You are just here to incite vitriol and IMO dont add much very often that is positive. I dont like you (judging only by the comments you make on this board) and have a very low opinion of you that is shared by many on this board I suspect.

What team would you chose?

Rivals 2005 Recruiting Class

Team A
Gerald Green
Josh McRoberts
Monta Ellis
Andray Blatche
Martell Webster

Team B
Sam Young
Chris Douglas-Roberts
Darren Collison
Andre McGee
Terrence Williams

Team A were the Top 5 Rated Players coming out of high school. Team B were all lower than the 70th rated player with T-Will being #111. I’m thinking next year for anyone isn’t a sure thing for any team….at all.

You just never know. Preston Knowles was a two-star recruit and I’m damn glad he plays for UofL.

Also, as a resident of Louisville and not a fan of Kentucky basketball, I firmly believe UK has the best recruiting class this year. In fact, I’d take John Wall over ALL of Marquette’s incoming players.

But you just never know.

by don'tshootmei'macard on Jul 7, 2009 10:55 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Maybe...even likely.

However one recruiting class does not make a championship.

A freshmen class is a best a contibutor to the ‘veterans’(and UK has a weak group returning. The other issue with this great class is the liklihood of at least two being one & done which would make this class just normal the rmaining 3 years. That has happened to UofL more than a few years with kids leaving early or taking other options.

Pitino Has Won Only 1 Title

It took him 4 straight EXCELLENT recruiting classes (1992-93-94-95) and perhaps the most talented team in the modern era to win by 7 and 9 points over his FF opponents.

Pitino needs OVERWHELMING talent for another title.

Not gonna get it as evidenced by

Insightful.

Who has won a talent w/o OVERWHELMING talent? Thank you Mr. Obvious.

Since Calipari has yet to win a title I guess that means one of two conclusions: 1) He’s not that great of a recruiter, or 2) he’s not that good of a coach. Just sayin’.

Tubby Smith To Name One (Of MANY)

His 1998 had very good talent but not overwhelming. No All-Americans, no lottery picks in NBA draft.

Pitino won (by single digit margins in FF games) with the most talented team of the past 25+ years.
