Tebowgate Resolved! Our long southeastern conference nightmare is over.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4352863

Steve Spurrier has confessed that he was the one who did not include Tebow on his first team ballot for All-SEC and subsequently sent sports radio into a tizzy.  Apparently, this is such an important matter that he delegated the responsibility to his director of football operations.  No worries though... prior to submitting something with his name on it to the SEC offices; he did, in fact, "glance at it."

Honestly... if the coaches don't care enough to vote for these awards, why do we bother?  Then again, if we are going to use coaches polls to determine the national title... why don't they fill those out themselves?

The world may never know.

This is ...

… my problem with the coach’s polls. Half the time the coaches don’t fill them out, they delegate the responsibility.

I’m shocked Spurrier would okay the dissing of one of his beloved Gators, I thought for sure it was Kiffin, since he’s less than … um, mindful about many of the things he does.

Okay ...

… I must admit watching Spurrier on ESPN made me feel a bit sorry for him. I give him credit for taking responsibility, and for calling the SEC offices and requesting that his vote be changed.

As to ABC’s comment — I agree, but with Kiffin, Miles, and Meyer taking up column inches with their brand of hilarity, the Ol’ Ball Coach has been relegated to a secondary nuisance:)

What difference does it make?

Cant the man vote the way he wants to? Its his vote. If he didnt want to include Tebow, why should he be made to feel badly about it?

Did he cause Tebow to miss out on something? Does the vote have to be unanimous?

It is not worth an intelligent man’s time to be in the majority. By definition, there are already enough people to do that.

Well ...

It doesn’t really matter except to make the coach who didn’t vote for him look like an idiot.

Pre-season All-League teams are silly, though. But, if they are going to do them, they might as well get it right.

That's my question.

Why does he have to look like an idiot because he didnt vote for him? Maybe he wanted to vote for someone else. I dont get why that has to make him an idiot. “…they might as well get it right.” Is there a “right” answer in a vote? I thought the coaches could vote for whoever they wanted. I guess I just dont really understand this whole thing.

It might be different if he really did think Jevan Snead was the best QB in the league

But I don’t think anyone who knows much about football honestly believes that.

Spurrier delegated the task to an assistant and the assistant put Snead “because we already had 8 Gators on the team.” That is what the stink is about at this point.

Of course its difficult, its a shortcut... if it was easy it'd just be "the way."

Well,

usually I would agree, but since Tebow is clearly one of the best, if not the best quarterback/player in the country, placing Jevan Snead in front of him on the All-SEC team is a bit … obtuse.

Not that I care but

technically he didn’t vote. So don’t feel bad for Spurrier. At least his asst coach had balls enough to vote for someone else, someone he liked better. Nothing wrong there.

This is for tink btw.

LOL!

You’re right he didn’t vote, but his name was on the ballot entry.

Geez.

And I had such a good theory too. Now Spurrier has come along and ruined it.

Bleh. :-)
