Around SBN: Nevin Shapiro Vows To Bring Down Miami

This is one of the most accuract football previews I have read to date with one exception. They contend that Harline has a big arm he just doesnt use it. It's a really great read and a dead on description of where the UK program is at in the SEC.

Picking Nits

All in all, as described by davw83, the preview is quite objective and accurate. Just for the point of conversation and not to be disputatious I would comment that:

1) It’s entirely possible that the OL we witnessed last year will be the same talent and technique as this year just with an added year’s experience. “Awful” is in the eye of the beholder so I can’t say the OL wasn’t awful last year but undoubtedly they were ineffective.

2) Yes, the RB’s have above average speed — “lightning fast” might be a bit hyperbolic — but they have shown a frustrating inability to hit the designated hole (providing one exists, of course, see OL above), poor vision and mediocre elusiveness.

3) Using “big arm” and Hartline together is an oxymoron writ large.

"The prosperity of commerce is now perceived and acknowledged by all enlightened statesmen to be the most useful as well as the most productive source of national wealth, and has accordingly become a primary object of its political cares."

--Alexander Hamilton, Federalist No. 12, 27 November 1787

Nice find and some very appropriate quotes, etc.

“Now there needs to be more of an attitude and there has to be more consistency.” So true, it’s time.

“There’s no reason UK should have the nation’s 105th most efficient passing game again.” – We should expect swipes like this until we prove a pass can go more than 10 yards on a consistent basis.

Interesting in that Fidler is discussed as the firmly entrenched #2.

I am sooooo ready for football.

Should be main page

If an article this comprehensive covered basketball, it would make main page.
