The Big Blue Daily Mail -- Kentucky Has Six Pre-season All-SEC Players
Six. Not a bad number for the former doormat of the Southeastern Conference. It's good to have UK football players recognized as among the best in the SEC, even if it means little at this point. But if these guys do live up to their billing, it could be a very good year for Kentucky football.
Congratulations Trevard Lindley, Micah Johnson, Zipp Duncan, Corey Peters, Jorge Gonzalez and Mike Hartline. Mike Hartline? Really? Well, there you go.

Florida Gators Country " Basketball " State of the program
This is a really good look at how Florida got where it is right now. It's easy to see how a rash of transfers, injuries and perception problems can lead a program into a mini-decline. Fortunately for Donovan, the perception problem surrounded the 04's ,and now that they are gone, he is in a position to recruit with the best of them.
But with Calipari now at Kentucky, there is an argument to be made that he will be recruiting from behind Coach Cal every year -- Donovan's pick and roll offense is a good offense to learn when heading to the pro game, but right now, the DDM is seen as superior, whether it actually is or not.

Some more Meeks commentary from Brew Hoop
Jodie Meeks 31 min, 8/12 fg, 2/3 3fg, 2/2 ft, 20 pts, 3 rebs, 1 stl, 2 to Jeremy called him a quiet assassin in the game thread, and he's absolutely right. With Jennings stealing the show and Alexander finally breaking out, it was easy to overlook another extremely efficient shooting night from Meeks. We also got to see more of Meeks range, as he drilled a pair of long, quick release triples. Meeks now leads the Bucks with 16.7 ppg on .600/.600/.833 shooting in Vegas. We know he doesn't do much else n the box score, but I can certainly live with drafting a lights-out shooter in the second round.
My comment would be that Jodie did little more than score at UK as well, which was always the knock against him. He will need to develop a more rounded game if he wants to earn the big bucks in the Association. -

Congtratualtions to Jarmon!
Six UK players on the preseason All-SEC Team? Should have been seven. Hope Cobb takes it personally.
SECRivals.com
Bobby Petrino should be numero uno on any list of coaches most likely to bolt. Glaring omission!
State of the Gator program
Good article, but very, very soft on Donovan. When listing the recent ills of the Gator program, transfer after transfer is mentioned with no asking the question, “Why.”
If UK had lost the incredible number of players that Florida has to transferring, the BBN would be clamoring, loudly, to know what the problem is. In this article that question isn’t even discussed.
Some really great quotes from Cal early in the article.

Riddick
I have to admit the clip with Riddick choking Wallace made me miss the ol’ Rick days a little bit. He looked so young and passionate. Ah – good times.
It is not worth an intelligent man’s time to be in the majority. By definition, there are already enough people to do that.

That's The Point That Some People Who Long For Pitino Are Missing
He was younger and more passionate in the mid 1990’s.
He is a lesser coach in the late 2000’s with age, I think.

Well rounded game
As longs as he keeps shooting it like he does he can make some very good money in the NBA despite anything else he does.
I expect Meeks will get better at the other aspects of his game but if he shoots the ball in the league the way he’s shooting it in Summer League he will be around a long time making a lot of money. Think Eddie House.
DEEETROIT BASKETBALLL!!!
Heh.
Or Del Curry. :-)
But I think Meeks has the potential to be better than either of those guys.

i've been waiting for this moment all my life...but it's not quite right.
This is football related.
Craig Yeast has been hired as offensive coordinator in my hometown of Lebanon at Marion County High School. Woohoo!
http://www.kentucky.com/978/story/864943.html
And Anthony Epps will be helping him out. Epps was great football player at MCHS as well as being a basketball player.
I am so excited about this hire as I am sure all my family in Lebanon are.
Hartline!
Well looks like the SEC sees the same potential in hartline as I do. Now let’s see if he can make me look smart by predicting him as an all-sec 3rd teamer…. If any of you remember my comments on the post about the up coming season?
We'll see.
I have little confidence that he can do that, but I would love it if he proved me wrong.

Hartline
Well he tried to tell us last year that it wasnt him – it was his teammates not making plays….. Lol! I havent cared much for ol’ Mike since then. Let’s hope he has matured some this year if nothing else.

Wise old Kentuckian once say
“Never shoot a possum in the butt when his head is only 12 inches away”, translation: If youre gonna throw to someone throw at their body……they just might catch it that way. Mr .Hartline would do well to remember that this year.
Remember, we're having fun now!!!
Burning Question:
Why isn’t Aaron Torres working for some reputable newspaper? The LHL — assuming it’s reputable — for instance. Certainly would be an improvement for the paper.
