Interesting. According to one of Leach’s links (Hoops Report), when referring to Jodie it says “Jodie Meeks received a guarantee early in the second round, and after verifying with sources, I am now confident that the promise was given by the Denver Nuggets at No. 34.”

I’m not sure how reliable that is and that may be something everyone but me has heard, but I think that’s pretty interesting. Is it common practice for teams to make a draft prospect a verbal guarantee? I actually don’t think Denver would be all that bad for Jodie and a verbal guarantee would certainly make waiting to hear one’s name on draft day much less stressful.

Why does it take 4 hrs and more to do this thing? Do they do trades during the process? I’ve never watched it but I want to this year for Jodie. I hope he goes in the first round so I can go to bed.
