"If he (Meeks) wants to make money, and a lot of it, this will be the most important decision he will make," Padgett said. "Ask Joe Crawford. He is a hell of a player. Ask him how hard it is to get in the league if you are not drafted.
"There are some guys now in the league who can’t play with Joe, but they are already there. It’s a whole lot harder to get in the league than it is to stay in. Jodie has to remember that."
Words to live by. Jodie, listen to somebody who knows.

Words of wisdom
But I’m beginning to feel like Jodie is not going to return. At first, I thought he’d come back, but now I have a gut feeling that he won’t. Next year’s draft appears to be a lot stronger, so maybe now is his best shot. If he decides to go, I wish him all the luck. He seems like a great kid, and will always remembered as a great Kentucky Wildcat…

If He Gets 1st Round, He Should Go
It’ll be much tougher to get 1st round next year.

Joe got drafted
but is he still in the NBA?

He was drafted in the second round by the Lakers
No guaranteed contract in the second round. Joe played in the D league and never made it to the NBA.
Of course its difficult, its a shortcut... if it was easy it'd just be "the way."

Crawford DID technically "make" the NBA.
Signed a 10-day K with the Knicks in March and then signed to finish out the season with them. He played 2 games.

He's still on the Knicks roster.

Likely not for long, however...
considering the majority of the draft prospects the Knicks are bringing in are shooting guards (Curry, Gerald Henderson, etc.)

Crawford
Will most likely play on someone’s summer league team and if he doesnt get a training camp invite start the season in the D League once again. He was one of the top players in the D league and i believe led the league in scoring at times. If he is patient he will get a call up from someone. It’s just a matter of him finding the right situation like Kaz did. He will stick sometime somewhere.

Marketability is the word, If nobody wants you this year, don't go begging.
Make them want you. Remember, if Jodie returns, he will be playing alongside of at least two and maybe three 2010 lottery picks (Wall, Patterson and Cousins). IMO several NBA teams will not have that kind of PG, SF, PF combinations. Yes, I think to be marketable next year PP has to play SF this year. We will see.
It really is a win/win situation. If Jodie returns he will also be coached by a coach with NBA experience. I would be very careful jumping at the first contract offerred. Over the long term it could cost him millions. If Morris can make the NBA certainly Jodie can. It will happen, when it happens is up to Jodie.
