Patterson Update -- It's almost official
Marc Maggard, citing very good sources, says that Patrick Patterson will be returning to Kentucky for his junior season.
This is great news for 'Cat fans. Listen to it at the above link, Marc has made it free for anyone.
Brett Dawson just tweeted a blog post that he is hearing the same thing.

Hope it's true!
I really thought he would go this year. Should be some official announcement anytime from UKAA.

Just saw a similar headline on CBSsportsline.com
Given yesterday’s events, I chose to ignore it. But if true, that is very exciting news!
I like important stuff just as much as the next guy, but please, for a little while, deliver us from meaning, baseball. That's your greatest glory, and we thank you for it very, very much. -- Craig Calcaterra

The only reason I didn't put a link...

Yeah
But the best I remember it was red. You need a UK blue tent. I bet someone on this site has the skills to change it, if not I will get my out of state friend to do it :-)

Jerry Tipton is saying that Patterson is coming back too. Now he’ll finally get a chance to face the basket. I think this will do him a lot of good.

Heavy rain
And flood warnings out for my area in Southcentral Ky. I keep checking the basement. The ground is so saturated there is no where for the rain to go :-( and more heavy rains on the way tonight. The tiling can only take so much even with a natural drain.

11 locks for schollarships, not a lot of room. I put Galloway in there because he will be a senior.
A.J. Stewart
Matt Pilgrim
DeAndre Liggins
Josh Harrellson
Donald Williams
These 5 will be fighting for the 1 or 2 schollarships that will be left, depending on what Wall does

That was a good piece by Katz.
It will be totally awesome to have Patrick back for the 2009-10 season (YAY!) — not only for what he gives us as far as his athletic ability on the court, but maybe he will emerge as that "team leader" that seemed to elude the team last year?
Considering that we have a totally new coaching staff in place, and I’m sure they will be absolutely fantastic, but it would be really great to have a member of the team such as Patrick, who is an all-around fabulous person and the kind of guy you can’t help but like and respect, and who also has experience being a Wildcat, step up and be that team leader.
This is splendid news, and what a way to start one’s weekend, huh? Cheers! : )

Big Blue Booyah has an interesting post
from yesterday, discussing our roster’s number discrepancy , and calls the list a totem pole. Then compares each player to the 1995-96 team. I found it most interesting. I don’t know about the site personally (I have no idea), but the write-up is interesting. If you want to read it, here is the link UK’s totem pole

Wall
With PPat returning, does this mean Wall will put UK #1 on his list? Thoughts?
by UK1972 on May 8, 2009 8:23 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I have come to the conclusion
that Wall is just enjoying the ride. IMO He will go the distance as far as the time He takes signing. I think He is a"little" self centered. He will end up playing where Momma says just like the Henry"s

Regardless of next season's ultimate end,
Patrick Patterson might well finish his career as my all time favorite UK player.
He has given so much to this program, and while staring millions of dollars in the face, decides to return to be part of something truly special.
What a guy.

Hey Forty
Has any team gone from the NIT one year to the NCAA finals the next? Or will next year for UK be first?
by UK1972 on May 8, 2009 9:05 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Nope But UK Closest
Cats won NIT in 1947 and finished 2nd in NCAA in 1948. 14 teams have finished in NIT final four in one year and NCAA final four in following year — last team was Syracuse in 2002 and 2003.

But werent the tournaments reversed in those days (1940-1950)
NIT was the big gun and NCAA was the little brother?

Thanks for the hat tip spork,
But in all fairness, when I posted it, the headline said he was favoring dUKe, like Wild Weasel posted. Now when you click my link in FanShots, it says he is favoring KY. But in the address bar of the page, it says leaning toward dUKe still??? Proof I guess, this guy is posting a bunch of gunk.
I know what it said to start with and last I checked, I am not wasted, that I know of…lol

don’t think most people even know the fanshots exist. I post things there all the time, then later on someone posts the exact same link in a thread as if it were new. Sometimes I just want to blast them for not reading the fanshots, but oh well, I’ll live.

just to be clear
this has been widely disseminated today, but a further reading doesn’t really merit all the attention. He is using one source, who is not involved in the recruiting process, who just gives his opinion. That fellow says he thinks Duke has an advantage because it’s closer to Raleigh and because Gerald Henderson is leaving.
1) This guy, admittedly, doesn’t know what he’s talking about. (i.e. he’s not a central player in the recruitment)
2) Literally everyone else who is tuned in thinks UK has a big advantage, some saying 85 percent and some even saying 100 percent.
3) This opinion was cast BEFORE Patterson announced his return.
4) Gerald Henderson leaving, if anything, should HURT Duke’s chances. He’s a 2-guard and would not take any minutes from Wall, plus were he there he’d make Wall look much better.
I’m trying not to be a biased/overly optimistic fan here, but Bozich’s post has been way overblown today. It doesn’t say Wall is leaning toward Duke; it says one guy thinks Duke has a better shot than UK (although he also says UK is “absolutely a major player in the wall sweepstakes.”) Losing Wall wouldn’t be the end of the world, but I don’t think this one post is reason to think the Wall tide is turning.
What do you mean, "blank slate"?

I didn't say that Duke had an advantage either,
I just posted it in FanShots for people to read, the whole 15 seconds worth. I agree that it means nothing, as of now. One guys opinion. That is all it is.. :-)
