Confusing to say the least
Tim Floyd?!!? Really? Seriously?
I’m Arizona… I have aspirations of being mentioned with UNC, Duke, Kansas, UCLA and Kentucky… so I hire a guy who routinely tops out around the round of 32? Hrmmm. And has only gotten major recruits since he’s been at USC… where kids love to be part of the LA culture and feed off the notoriety of the football team.
I don’t get it. But hey… that’s their hire.
Of course its difficult, its a shortcut... if it was easy it'd just be "the way."
Well,
that would have been their hire, but apparently, Tim Floyd has decided he does not want Arizona. Next??
Surprised
So where does Arizona go from here? They offered a second tier coach the head job and he turned it down… who wants it now?
I’ll be honest, I’m stunned by this. I’ve always considered Arizona to be the school just outside the elite 6 historical schools of college BBall. The situation now is even more perfect for an incoming head coach. Following Lute had he stepped down two years ago would have been tough… the team was stocked and stable with solid inroads in recruiting. If you got into that and failed, uggggh. Now the team is in utter chaos… but still has had recent enough success to be relevant in the minds of young recruits. The right guy could step in there and get right back to where they want to be IMO. Now that Few has apparently gently rebuffed them, something must have fallen through with Capel, and Floyd has a public “No” on the record; I don’t know where they turn.
Paging Russ Pennel… Paging Russ Pennel… could you please unpack your bags and return to the sideline?

That would be my first call
And would have been my first call before Floyd. Based on the fact that I had heard rumors Arizona was talking to Capel before I heard the Floyd offer… I just kind of assumed it was like us making back channel contact with Donovan and being turned down.
I think it was you who said Kruger was happy at UNLV, but that might be the best coach to target for them.
