Think Rupp didn't ruffle the media. One of my favorite stories Billy Reed tells about him is coming up to ask for an interview outside his office, and hearing the secretary go in and tell Rupp that Billy Reed wanted to talk to him, and Rupp saying: "What does that little turd want now?"

He said Rupp received e-mail? Did they have computers back then at UK? And even if they did, how many UK fans had the same?

Typo
Pretty much only scientists and DoD types used email when Rupp was coaching. Not very likely any coach received any hate emails when Rupp was coaching.
I think Crawford meant regular mail.
He did.
Somebody caught that and corrected him. He had a blog post up about it earlier.

Rupp had won 3-4 national championships, the Olympics and a score of SEC championships.
Had Both Been Around In 1930
Rupp would have called him a turd then, too.
