Alan Cutler Part Two
I'm still sure that I think of Cutler as nothing but a shock jock, but at least he apologized for his actions last week. Following this text is an email he sent in regards to the situation and I am sorry if this has been posted before, with all the excitement about Coach Cal possibly coming, I may have missed it. I know for one that I appreciate a good apology.
Dear Joshua,
Thanks for writing and for watching LEX 18 News. Your feedback is important to us.
You have written to our station to voice a complaint about the coverage that I did on Friday on the termination of UK basketball coach, Billy Gillespie. Your criticism of my story, and the criticism that I have received from many other viewers is appropriate and appreciated, and I want to apologize to you for putting that report on the air. I realize now, that in my zeal to aggressively report on a major story, that I crossed a boundary that I should not have crossed. Coach Gillespie deserved more respect than I provided and I regret my involvement in making a difficult time for him even more difficult.
I have been in contact with the UK Athletic Department and they have been kind enough to accept my apology. I am attempting to reach out to Coach Gillesipie with the hopes that he too will be so kind. And I am reaching out to you, our viewers, to try and make amends for a situation that took on a life of its own, and that I enormously regret.
During the past 25 years of reporting on sports, I have tried to cover all stories fairly and factually. Unfortunately, in this particular case, I failed to live up to my own standards and those of WLEX-TV. I will try harder in the future, and I hope that you will continue to watch WLEX news and my reports, as I learn from this valuable lesson.
And, I’ve apologized on the air.
Sincerely,
Alan Cutler

Coach Gillispie Deserves For Cutler To Spell His Name Right, Too
I’m not a fan of the Cut man.

Ha, no kidding.
I’m in NKY, so I have to listen to much of him on 1530. There is something about him that makes me not much of a fan as well.
Maybe I should have made an edit
:)

Lame
Cutler only apologizes for something he was caught on camera doing. Big deal. His apology doesn’t do anything for the fact that he embarrassed yourself, the network, Billy Gillispie, and the university in one fell swoop all on national television.
I am still infuriated about it…
Got the same letter, only with my name...
Pressure from the top…? Me thinks so…
Steelers fan 1st! UK is my 2nd love.
Sometimes an apology is real, other times....
its “say something apologetic on-air and by stock letter, or your canned”
Apologies
Yeah, I got the same form e-mail. Of course, that was after the self-serving e-mail that I got from him Sunday stating that he was just doing his job, and he didn’t understand all the fuss. He threw in that Billy was pretending to talk on his cell phone. Sorry, Cutler, even if that’s true, it doesn’t make your classless act all right. But I’ll take your apology for whatever it’s worth. :-)
I never got the self serving email from Cutlet
But I did get it from Mark Hebert, it was like he was grasping at straws to justify their actions.
