Pitino's Case of John and Travis

I posted today about rethinking my want of JP to come to Kentucky, then mr Pitino just had to come out and say these things and I have to say that I totally agree with him. Although I don't like Ford as I think he is a younger version of the hotheaded BG. But this statement by Pitino is spot on and very good. Notice how he talks about Billy.  He knows we want him and he is telling us to take a chance on one of these guys. I love it yall. Its a great idea. We are going to have to face the fact that Kentucky is not very likeable right now. We are not going to get a top tier coach or second tier coach is just isn't going to happen. As I said months ago you bring JP in and he is an instant love of fans. Anyway here is the link........

tenken, tenken, tenken.

It will work out. UK is still UK. Believe me, there are some very ambitious coaches that will be very interested in the UK job. We are going to havea good team next year. We might be real good.

Pelphrey...

couldn’t do anything this year. His team was garbage this year in one of the weakest power conferences. Ford made the tourney in a conference that had atleast some competition.

There will be very ambitious coaches interested in the UK job, but hopefully we won’t offer it to them. Thats exactly what we did last time around.

I Agree 1oo%....

….with Coach Pitino. I hope that we hire either John Calipari or John Pelphrey. Pelphry could do the job, as could Calipari. Ford could, too, but I just believe that Pelphrey would be better…..

Pitino Wants To Dominate UK

He knows he will dominate Ford or Pelphrey.

He knows he cannot dominate Calipari, Izzo, etc.

So Pitiino recommends UK hire For or Pelphrey.

In 1997 he recommended UK hire Ralph Willard to replace him.

I dont often agree with you

But you are dead on with this one. I said the same thing in another thread about RP. I love him to death and I would love to have him back, but as long as he is at UL, he wants UK to be 2nd fiddle as far as success. He knows either TF or JP as coach would keep UK there.

Stay out of your business

He needs to keep his ass out of your business. If we want anything from him we will beat it out of him. ..we must remember that he left us high and dry. He needs to worry about the beating he will get from uk next year

*Sigh*

The irony of Pitino trying to aid UK’s search is exceeded only by it’s ridiculousness.

What next? Any minute, I expect some Pitino acolyte to come in and insist we hire his son.

No matter

who it was from its good advice

I don't care who is coach as long as Kentucky is Kentucky!

no it's not...

…Neither are ready for this position… It would chew them up and spit them out…!

Steelers fan 1st! UK is my 2nd love.

1989

It took 3 months to find a coach then.

by FortyYearCatFan on Mar 29, 2009 5:41 PM EDT up reply actions

What makes you think that?

When a coach says he is not interested in another job, that doesn’t necessarily mean anything. Many times its lip service.

It would be foolish for a coach to say he is interested in the UK job while employed by another school.

I agree with Vince. Its not good advice.

I said this in another post. Pretend Ford and Pelphrey didn’t play for UK. The two wouldn’t even be a consideration.

Pitino needs to shut up!!

Rick Pitino needs to shut his mouth!!!! It is none of his business who Kentucky gets to be OUR next coach!! He should have worried about his own losing team!!! Ford or Pelphrey would be horrible for us!!! Good for his sorry behind but not ours!!! Mind your own business Slick Rick!!!
