Bear with me for a second, first. (?) Occasionally I make comments that may be taken as tacky or sarcastic and taken as belittling the circumstances. To those I might have offended, sorry. To everybody else --- thanks for putting up with me, this blog provides both a horrible distraction and rapt fascination. Especially thanks to Tru for providing a stimulating atmosphere and, as even of a keel as can be maintained.
Like many I was kept away from the news cycle today due to work. Everytime I got to the blog I had to do something else so I slogged through the blogs (damn, looks like no work was done in Ky today).
I'd like to hear from ASOB folks who they think the administration will go after; NOT, who you want. We all have our favorites, push those favorites aside, and think like Mitch. Hmmmmmm..... bad example, sorry. Think like an Athletic Director at the most prestigious basketball program in the country...or at least come close.
After setting my brain on stew for a while I'll give my guess of the administration's first choice to ---- Billy Donovan.
Press releases have been issued, denials have been made. Well, whoop-ti-doo. That means soooo much. Donovan's press release was released "through the university." There's plenty of lawyers on this site. Doesn't it look like the university has sanitized this release so the've got wiggle room for any eventuality? In all, there doesn't seem to be anything written or said that hasn't been ignored in past by some institution.
So on with my AD selection. I'm not really that enamored with the idea of him at the helm but my opinions don't enter the picture. The positives on his resume are impressive: Billy has the bloodlines for Kentucky (in an in-law sort of way); has captured two national titles; has established from scratch a basketball program that has now reached its peak due to fan support for the gridiron; can recruit like a terrorist; leads an Ozzie & Harriet life (albeit with a better income); smooches with press and boosters; and a haircut that reminds me of a short haired version of Petino '89.
I won't speak negatives since I'm thinking like an AD of what to present my selection to the public. (See how easy we're making it for MB?) If there's any response, we'll even have an election.
