UK Sports Information Department statement
WHAS's revised blog entry, posted at 12:43 am EST Friday, March 27.
From the UK Sports Information Department: "UK mens basketball coach Billy Gillispie has not been fired. There have been no meetings between Gillispie and UK officials today and there is no scheduled press conference tomorrow."
Make of that what you will.

i think it is all semantics
billy not being fired and billy not being back can both be true – that is what whas seems to be hanging their hat on.

Regardless of what happens, I hope to see UK basketball back in its rightful place soon. Obviously I’m a Bama fan, but much love for Wildcat sports (y’all have never bothered me, and I love y’alls basketball tradition). And I’ve had some good times in Lexington – a very nice college town. I do hope we get Grant, and I’m not sure what to think of Gillispie, but I thought he was a decent hire at the time. Go Big Blue, we want y’all back (especially when you put it to UT and UF).

It went down when UK refuted the report...
Then went back up an hour later. WHAS is sticking to their guns. Better hope they are not wrong on this.
If I'm not mistaken
(and others on this blog have also pointed this out)
WHAS is saying that BG will not be coach next year.
UK is saying that BG was not fired today.
no contradiction, so far.
Re: Gobe
You are exactly right.
As I posted on the Open Thread earlier, I just don’t think that G would quit. He would be leaving behind 6 mil … that’s a lot of dough, I don’t care who you are. — It just adds to the “momma drama.”
Last night
there was a pic of billy g with the caption under it that said Gilispie fired…so yeah there has been a draw back and yes there was a contradiction rthen…maybe not now but the pic and caption are no longer on the snakes site.
Hey Mitch, dont destroy Kentucky basketball!!

Can't wait for this to be settled
Will this journey ever end?

Heh.
Well, I did say the chance that WHAS was wrong about this was non-zero.
Well, all I can say is that somebody will be fired —either Gillispie, or a WHAS sports reporter. :-)

who dreamed that the Big Dance
would turn out to be this dance!
So should we guess that the replacement new coach has not been finalized, thus the continued dancing by the University?
