UK Basketball: Perry critical of Gillispie and Kentucky
Because he played with five of Kentucky's current players, Bobby Perry readily admits that he wants to see the UK basketball team do well.
However, the former Wildcat also doesn't think that means he should not be entitled to an opinion that is less than flattering about the UK program.

I agree with Perry
Just because he states his opinion, it doesn’t make him an idiot. Same with Mike Casey.
We all have a right to our opinions, for sure...
…But i think it hurts the program when ex-players are critical… Folks seems to put more stock in there opinions, good or bad…
Steelers fan 1st! UK is my 2nd love.
Perry's comments
were very different from Mike Casey’s. Perry was much more respectful and classy.
I believe in Billy G.

I Don't Understand His Last Year, This Year Comments
UK was 18-13 last year but happy because they were winning.
This year UK is 21-13 but unhappy because there aren’t winning.
21 > 18 in my book.

OK Then He Should Say That
As I recall, UK was 1 & Done for the first time since 1987 last year.

Former players should take a cue from Sheppard
And remember what the pressure is like and not compound that by throwing current coaches or players under the bus.
Billy is a 5x conference coach of the year, that surely tells you that he can coach.

The 5X Thing Is Inaccurate
Twice at TAMU = COY.
Once at UK = co-COY.
Not 5X COY.

Factually
Gillispie was Texas COY in 2003-4 as selected by TABC and was finalist for national COY.
Gillispie was Big 12 COY in 2004-5, 2005-6, 2006-7, and was Texas COY in 2005-6.
Gillispie was SEC co-COY 2007-8.
In addition Gillispie is the only coach in NCAA history to lead a team to most improved status in two consecutive seasons.
Actually NOT
First, finalist for national COY means little to me. The prior UK coach was ACTUALLY National COY in 2003 (unanimously) and 2005 (Phelan Award).
Gillispie was Big 12 COY in 2006 and 2007 but not 2005. (Conference COY is different than state COY)
He was SEC co-COY in 2008.
