Unchartered Waters
Fellow cat fans, this is truly a test of unchartered waters. Our flagship is in the middle of a hurricane right now. We are taking on water and see no end in sight. The next few weeks will be key to the future of our flagship and we steer our way through the hurricane. It will test our loyatly and our stewardship. I feel comfortable in our Captain Lee Todd and our co captain Mitch Barnhardt. They will make the right decision for our beloved ship and clear her to the blue skies and sunshine. We must be sure though not to let our precious ship sink by getting down on each other. With each water that comes on to our ship we must collectlively take a bucket and get it off our ship. We must work together though and not create a mutiny that makes us weak and vunerable to the waves or we shall surely sink. We did it in 88 and we shall do it again. Stay strong and when we see the sun again we shatl celebrate this together. Peace to my Cat brethern. Tenken

What is Gillispie currently doing on that ship right now? Where is he?

He is there.
I saved him a seat.

There will be no mutiny here.
I can’t speak for the other UK places, but we will have none of a mutiny. As an ex-navy person, the very concept makes me blanch.
What we need is to subdue our emotions, and use our minds instead of our anger, fear, and frustration. Let those go out the door with the season. Nobody has died. Help is on the way, and the bloom is off the rose for the coach — he now must surely know that another year like this is likely to doom him.
UK will be back. It will take a bit longer than we hoped, is all. But in a few years, we will be looking back at this time as just a bump in the road.

No
mutiny on here but we don’t want mutiny anywhere in Big Blue Nation. Whatever happens I feel comfortable with those in power to make the right decision. I just have a feeling that we are at the bottom and there is no where to go but up from here on out.
BTW, thanks for serving our country :)
I don't care who is coach as long as Kentucky is Kentucky!

Bottom?
20-13 is not a bottom anywhere, not even at UK.
UK has been at the bottom twice. 1953 when NCAA Death Penalty was imposed for recruiting violations and point shaving by UK players.
And 1989 when UK narrowly avoided another Death Penalty for more recruiting violations.
UK is 82-51 the past 4 years. North Carolina was 72-54 from 2001 through 2005. UNC hit bottom at 8-20 in 2002.

Good Point...kinda
Good analogy pointing out “recent” struggles at UNC but you know as well as I do Kentucky doesn’t compare itself to any other program no matter how nationally prestigeous they might be. I can’t image what would happen in Rupp Arena if the wildcats ever go 8-20. Hopefully I’ll never have to see but no coach at KY will every be given the same kind of chance he/she would at any other program. Is that fair…not really but tell the rest of Kentucky that; you’ll get booed all the way to West Virginia. Kentucky basketball is just a different entity all together more like religion than a sport.

UK Should Compare Itself To UCLA, UNC, Kansas
It’s an Elite program like those are.

Again NOT A Bottom
1989 was much MUCH lower in terms of that aspect.

Everyone SHOULD
Gillispie has 38 W in his first 2 years.
Pitino had 36. Hall only had 33.
38 W in 2 years may be a slump but it’s not a crime.

UNC going 8-20 a few years back...
… now that was the bottom…! I do not like were we are, but we are clearly no where near the bottom… lol

wins
you can count the wins in a season as a positive thing. But what positive things come out of playing worse as the season progresses.Bad times fall on all teams sooner or later but it is what you learn from mistakes that make you stand out.And this season we had no standouts. At least last year we started looking better towards the end. That gave us some hope and to start the season 5-0 in conference play. What happened to us starting with the south carolina game?We seemed to lose our confidence and just fell apart. We have had some great years-some good and some horrible ones-I will ALWAYS be trueblue and I have suffered with the cats off and on for 40+ years and am still a fan.

No Standouts?????
Jodie Meeks. Patrick Patterson. Both CLEARLY standouts.
I only recall one horrible season (1989) in my 43 years of following UK basketball.
