That sucks. What a strange recruitment.

From Jody Demling at his blog
Justin Green just confirmed that he was “leaning towards” Kentucky until sometime yesterday, noting he called Ohio State on Sunday and informed them he was switching.

I find it hilarious
That our recruiting class will be ranked ~30 this year (our best ever), yet that is still only good enough for 11th in the SEC!! This conference is ridiculous. . .

It is.
Well, the best we can likely hope for is mid-pack anyway. At least we won’t be a doormat.

Nicely rounded
The beauty of it all is that the coaching staff has really worked to address Kentucky’s deficiencies from last year. If you had asked me what our weaknesses were last year I’d tell you Quaterback (check), Receivers (check), and depth (check). The only thing we haven’t addressed is kicking woes!
Maybe the women’s soccer team has someone out there… I think I saw that once in a movie with Scott Bakula as an aging college QB… I think Sinbad was in it too.
Of course its difficult, its a shortcut... if it was easy it'd just be "the way."

If we land Evans, which I believe we will, then I will grade this class an A-

A-
A couple of top notch DBs would have given us an A if not A+.

Any news on Harris Gaston LB?
I believe he originally committed with Auburn but has recently visited UK and Miss St. He would be a huge get.

What happened to our 2008 4* DL committ from GA that went to prep school? How did he do and will he make it to UK or did he decide to go elsewhere?

Oddity
Not relating to UK, but I saw where South Carolina signed 5 of the top 14 Safeties per ESPN rankings (#2, 3, 6, 9 and 14). Some of these guys will play other positions but isnt that strange?

Excellent class
Yes, many 11th incoming class in the SEC, but with what we had last season with ran with a very good Georgia team and a very good Alabama team. The incoming guys are excellent, and at least a few should make an immediate impact (Newton especially). It may be a surprising season (better than 7-5 perhaps).
At the very least, we should be heavily favored against Louisville, eh?

Cats signed 28 players....
…. in the 2009 class and 19 of those players are ranked as a 3-star or better.
In 2008, we had 9 players that were 3-star or better.
In 2007, we had 10 players that were 3-star or better

We'll be looking really good, I think ...
… in a couple of years. Next year aught to be better than this past one. I hope.

Problem is that even with all this (and hopefully similar or, dare I say it, better classes to come)
we still have almost no chance at an SEC title. 5 years, maybe? (or a little luck – hey, if Georgia can do it in basketball. ..)

An SEC title ...
… is probably beyond our reach, pretty much ever. I can live with that, if we can become a good team, upset some of the big guys and compete for the East once in a while. If we can do that, I think we’ll have to be satisfied.
