2000 Wins--Somebody Check My Math
If I understand correctly, we now have win # 1,983 heading to the milestone of 2000 wins.
So figuring we have 7 games left, 6 games to win the NCAA championship, and either 3 or 4 games to win the SEC... we could conceivably hit 2000 in the final game this year. yes? no? Maybe I am miscounting. And I am thinking it means we have to go into the SEC tournament w/o the bye in order to have to play 4 games... but please someone correct my count, because I am just doing this off the top of my head.
And the likelihood of us getting those next 13 wins this year (it that's even the correct number) --okay-- I know, pretty slim. (Forty just taught me this week that Cats statistically lose 1 of every 4 games). Nevertheless, I am a true blue Wildcat and I always believe we stand on the verge of being undefeated in all future games ever.
I believe...

Good point
but even if it’s possible, I’m pretty sure we have less than 10% chance of doing that this year.
HOWEVER, it’s most likely we’ll hit it during the out-of-conference schedule next season. Perhaps against UNC or Louisville (both home games next season. . .)?

Not going to happen
Just from the number of games we have left we would have to win out in the regular season and then somehow play a first round SEC game. If we win out in the SEC we will certainly get the bye leaving us at least a game short. It cant physically be possible.

I think they might have ...
… a hard time getting those thirty wins before we get seventeen, though. :-)

Yes...
7 left, 4 in SECT without bye, and 6 to win it all. Thats 17 total, so yes you are correct.
She is obviously giving a hypothetical question guys.

yes, just dreaming
But wondered if it was even possible. Davw83 makes a good point. If we were to win the next 7 games, then we would be much more likely to be in line for the bye in the SEC tournament, which would then mean we were short a game… assuming that 1,983 is the right number to use as a starting point, and I have not double checked that.
And 6 actually seemed like the wrong number for wins needed to run the table in the NCAA tournament (8 sounder more correct). But counting in my head, 6 was what I kept getting and if you guys say it is right, then it must be so. :)

UK Has 1983, UNC Has 1972 Or 1973 (Not Sure Which)
Cats have to stay ahead of Tar Heels to get to 2000 W first.

I shudder to type that.

I believe...
its 1972. I think during the UK/UF game that I saw that we were 11 ahead. With our win and theirs it should be the same.

Arg it is getting close.
We must hit 2000 first. I was just wondering in my head if it would be possible for UK and UNC to hit our game next season, at Rupp, tied at 1999 wins. I don’t think it’s possible, even if UNC wins every game between now and then (27 wins between today and November/December next season?)
I should add that I surely hope that we hit 2000 before that game, but a HUGE win would be a solid way to hit 2000. Hopefully UNC sits at like 1975 wins at that point. . .

UK Was First To 1000 W But UNC Was First To 1500 W
First to 2000 W is the tie breaker.

It would be nice to put them in the dust.
But it does make for a fun rivalry I guess. When was the 1500 mark hit? 1000? I am just curious about my chances of seeing the 2000 mark. :)

Looks like on average the top programs are getting 500 wins about every 20 years (average of 25W/year).
