North Carolina Tar Heels at Kentucky Wildcats, Dec 5, 2009 12:30 PM EST
It's time for the biggest game (so far) of this young season and a game that will tell both teams how far they have come, and how far they have yet to go. North Carolina is a giant rival of Kentucky, perhaps second only to the Louisville Cardinals just a short drive down I-64.
Particulars of this game are as follows:

As you can see from my pre-game analysis and Ken's follow-on article, we here at A Sea of Blue are taking this game most seriously. Win or lose, we consider this one of the two biggest games of this regular season. Others may disagree, but that's how I see it.

What UK needs to win this game:
- John Wall to put pressure on the defense and accumulate help fouls;
- Get the ball to Patterson and Cousins as much as possible;
- Make free throws;
- Minimize turnovers.
What the Tar Heels need to win:
- A big game from Deon Thompson;
- 38% or better 3-point shooting;
- Win the turnover battle;
- Keep UK from winning the offensive rebounding percentage battle
- Don't send John Wall to the line a lot.

AWESOME!!!!!
So much can be said about the ugly parts of this game, but the bottom line is we beat a very talented, big team that won the National Championship last year. Our guys have a long way to go to live up to the potential we know they have, but they proved thay can hold it together and pull out the W! Way to go CATS!!!!
To those who thought they would wear us out…. we are one of the deepest teams in the country! We make a lot out over Wall, Bledsoe, Cousins, and Patterson; however, we have a bench that is really better than a lot of teams starting 5. I’d love to see Cal continue to slam home the DDMO with everyone, but also develop an offense that plays to the strengths of our 2nd and 3rd teams.
It is going to be a great year! I am a Cat fan living in NC, so this was a very sweet win for me!!! GO CATS!!!!
