UK Swept The SEC In 1946-47-48-49

http://www.bigbluehistory.net/bb/Statistics/1945-46.html NIT champions.

http://www.bigbluehistory.net/bb/Statistics/1946-47.html NIT runner-up.

http://www.bigbluehistory.net/bb/Statistics/1947-48.html NCAA champions and Olympic Gold Medalists.

http://www.bigbluehistory.net/bb/Statistics/1948-49.html NCAA Champions.

Cumulative 130-10 record over those 4 seasons. Undefeated versus SEC competition. Won 3 "national" championships and 1 "world" championship.

Not bad. Pretty darn good, actually.

That’s the era when they would let an assistant football coach in some of the SEC schools coach basketball so they could earn extra money
But hey, winning is winning!

I have be correctly accused of having a 'football fetish'. You know, someone who doesn't think football is the warm up sport to basketball season.

I Guess You Could Say Rupp Had It Easy In SEC For 40 Years

Really the SEC didn’t start playing bigtime basketball (top to bottom) until it integrated its teams in the 1970’s.
