First of all, a quick note: I will be at Churchill Downs today enjoying the Breeder's Cup simulcast. I expect to be able to watch some of the game, and comment from time to time via the iPhone, but the post-game comment may be late (it depends upon whether or not Ken has time to put up post-game commentary).

The bottom line here is that EKU is a strong defensive team it their division, but not a very good offensive one. For UK, this will be a good test for the offense, but if the defense comes to play, EKU should have great difficulty scoring.
What I hope to see today:
- A good game plan on both sides of the ball.
- Solid quarterback play.
- A good defensive line push on all plays.
- Better special teams play.
- Attention to detail, especially on special teams

I will say this much.....we are moving the ball without our big guns on offense

If there is a bright side
maybe Newton won’t be looking over his shoulder waiting for Cobb to bail him out with the Wildcat. He might play with more confidence.
The main problem is a cast doesn’t indicate a quick return.

There was discussion this week on the schedule
This game is why I like this schedule. A little bit of work for the first stringers then rest; then a lot of reps for the 2nd and 3rd stringers. Its just like another bye week and the real bye is earlier in the year after some real game experience to tweak the O and D.
If we were playing them by choice, I would agree with you.....
but this is being done because we have 6-8 starters injured…..that hurts all around….

I think I was more impressed that he did more good things than he did bad… He “pressed” on a couple of drives when he could have had an easy assist, but he took good care of the ball. No much more that you could ask for from a freshman PG. I’ll take that…
