A little trash talk with a UNC fan

Just wanted to share some excerpts of a little IM trash talk I engaged in this morning with a UNC fan friend of mine.

Me: What happened to your Tar Heels this weekend?

Friend: We are rebuilding!! They're young

Me: Oh, I thought Old Roy just reloaded instead of rebuilding. LOL

Friend: Nope - doesn't happen that way. The joy of this season will hopefully come in seeing the progress they have made from a loss like the Syracuse loss.

Me: Don't worry - being the _second_ program to 2000 wins is pretty cool too.

Friend: Yea yea yea. You see, we have experience with "year after the championship" struggles!

Me: I'd like to see some more "year with Matt Daugherty at the helm" struggles. LOL

Friend: No - that I don't need!

I don't usually do trash talk, but this was kinda fun, and of course, my friend took it in the lighthearted spirit in which it was offered. Just thought my Big Blue Brethren (and Sistren) would enjoy it.

…just more proof that anything you say to a friend in chat can end up anywhere on the internet!
On that note — I have a UNC-fan friend, also. I said “what happened to your Heels?” He said, approximately, “they are young, we are playing freshmen.” I said, "hmm, who is starting?…..Ginyard, Thompson, etc…..so, okay, maybe you are playing a “whole new team” but looks like “reloading” to me.
Well, anyway, UNC is a kindred program to us, in my mind.

Talking Smack with

UNC fans in b-ball and doing the same with UT fans in basketbal……. What a difference a year has made for the University!!!!!!

A year ago, we didn’t talk smack with ANYONE in b-ball…..at least until the game was over and in football….well the same could probably be said.

Our b-ball team is on the cover of SI and our football team has a chance of ending the season in the top 20……have we all died and gone to Cat heaven??

My respect for the Carolina program took a major hit last night

When I tuned into Fox Sports South, I saw an inordinate number of empty seats in that arena. And to top it off… the place doesn’t even hold that many! The aisles are at least 4-5 feet wider than the aisles at Rupp. You could easily fit two more seats in each row and the fans couldn’t fill the place up for a top 10 caliber team.

Shameful. Even in the darkest of the Gillispie days you didn’t see that kind of apathy from the fans.

Of course its difficult, its a shortcut... if it was easy it'd just be "the way."
