Blogpoll Ballot: Week 11 Draft
Week 11 is here, and it's time to publish my blogpoll ballot for this week.
Alabama surges to the top, Texas falls to #2, and Florida winds up at #3. Well, you have to put all of them somewhere, and I guess they will just be taking turns on my ballot for a while.
There were relatively few big games last week, so what we had is a series of humdrum games, with none of the top teams really having the opportunity to prove their superiority. I guess that will happen for sure when Alabama and Florida face off in the SEC championship. Texas' only remaining games are against fading Kansas, mediocre Texas A&M and Nebraska in the Big 12 championship, so they will likely be in the BCS championship game versus the winner of the SEC championship game.
My ballot follows the jump.

Comments
- Southern Cal is fading faster than a pair of bleached bluejeans on a sunny day.
- Navy makes an appearance, which they honestly deserve. Go Navy, Beat Army!
- North Carolina continues to hang in the ACC, and Miami is looking like a shell of the top 10 team earlier this year. But Georgia Tech is the class of the conference.
- Clemson continues its turn-around from its early season swoon.
- Ohio State is making a move, and an impressive one. Barring a loss to Michigan, the Big 10 will have to chose between Iowa or Ohio State for their champ. Not sure how that is done these days.
- Cincinnati continues to impress. Where will they be when one of the two SEC teams finally lose, as must happen?
- If Georgia Tech beats Georgia, they will likely take over the #6 spot from Boise State on my ballot.
- How about the Stanford Cardinal? Talk about coming out of nowhere.
- Bad loss to UCF by Houston dropped them way down, but barring a catastrophe, they should win out.
Your comments are welcome, and appreciated.

"Southern Cal is fading faster than a pair of bleached bluejeans on a sunny day."
I’d have went with:
Souther Cal is going down faster than Karen Sypher.
First time I shot her, shot her in the side.
Hard to watch her suffer, but with the second shot she died...
Is That Insider Knowledge?
I hadn’t heard of read of that charge.

A minor quibble
Texas actually has 3 games remaining – their two regular season contests, and the Big 12 title game (likely against Nebraska, I believe). Not that that should make any difference, but that did trip up Kansas State 10 or so years ago when they met Texas A&M.
Also, generally agree with your poll, but I would probably have Stanford ahead of Oregon due to their head-to-head beatdown.
It's time. . .
Thanks.
Forgot about the Big 12 championship game. Good catch.
As far as Stanford ahead of Oregon, I don’t rank teams that way. Oregon has lost only two, both to top 25+ teams (Boise State and Stanford), while Standford has lost to the likes of 4-7 Wake Forest and two mid-pack Pac-10 teams.
Plus, Oregon has been up in the top 15 for a bunch of polls, and Stanford only recently reached that. I couldn’t move Oregon all the way down to 10th or 11th, nor does Stanford deserve to be ranked in the top ten.

I hope Cincinnati runs the table... then my bias shows
A BCS Bowl win will be good for my adopted city.
Then, I don’t give a crap.
Brian Kelly to Notre Dame. Oh Yeah!!!
Weiss is UND’s Tubby Smith… nice guy, can keep you close to the top twenty five. Big whoop.
UND needs a St. John and they can afford one. Kelly to UND. Bets, anyone?
No matter where you're at, there you are
Weis is no Tubby Smith
Tubby won a National Championship and had some very impressive W-L records. If Bogans doesn’t get hurt he probably would of had another final four. Plus Tubby was a good and classy guy. Weis has done nothing at ND and he certainly is not a classy and nice guy.
So Weiss is no Tubby... I can deal with that
I think I made a mistake comparing basketball to football. Oranges to apples, I suppose. Germaine point still exists: Neither proved capable of bringing either team to the standards set by their program Yeah, yeah… Tubby won a national championship, but with whose recruits? He did very well the first few years of his tenure, but no final four; and his final two years — you can judge that as well as I can. Not acceptable at UK. Weiss’ tenure, not acceptable there, either.
No matter where you're at, there you are
The Domers will go after Meyer.
No doubt in my mind.

Well, who knows? One thing's for sure if a change happens up north
UND’s choice may well be the Coach Cal of football. Money and the rest.
Notre Dame mirrors UK in this way: both represent an historically maligned constituency that embraces their sport as a way to even a cultural score.
Right or wrong. Please don’t tell me we UK fans don’t have that in our genes, too.
No matter where you're at, there you are
I'm not so sanguine.
Meyer has always wanted to be the head coach of the Irish. We saw Calipari leave Memphis for UK. It doesn’t seem far fetched to me.

If we start a discourse, I'm sure you'll win,
but I don’t think Cal leaving UM for UK is analogous to Meyer leaving UF for ND in any way.
UM to UK is a step up. UF to ND is a significant step down.
Cal had no history with UK. Meyer was an assistant at ND.

So I think that there's a possibility that any currently employed coach would leave his current post for ND.
But I think the chance that Meyer leaves Florida for Notre Dame is slim.

Brian Kelly from UC...much higher probability he bolts.

Yes.
But Notre Dame will not be offering him the job, I don’t think.

Meyers to ND is very possible
the timing is perfect for Urban since “his offense” is playing his last year. He’s not looking forward to life without Tebow next year and having to actually install and run a more conventional offense. He also happens to be losing a lot of other personnel on both sides of the ball.
Hoping he'll go
And there is no one wanting him to go to South Bend any more than the five coaches in the Eastern Division of the SEC.
I have be correctly accused of having a 'football fetish'. You know, someone who doesn't think football is the warm up sport to basketball season.
Florida without aforementioned personnel
is still probably better than ND as it is.

Playerwise? probably
but a few years ago Meyer said ND was “dream” job. He’s backtracked on that several times but still…..makes one take thought.
Pro Tubby
Tubby looked pretty good when you look at the ‘circus’ we had the last two years.
Sorry, I’m a Tubby fan and we can only hope that the current coach can run a program as clean as Tubby did while he was here. Give Gal the opporunity to show he can run a program as clean s The Tub did.

TCU Ahead Of Bearcats
It’s a crime that Frogs won’t get a chance at NC.

I am from Cincy area and certainly
am not a hater of the Bearcats, but the replay official gave them that game last week and was probably reprimanded this week. The rule is very clear, you cannot over rule a call without total proof that the call on the field was wrong (yes the lingo is wrong but the meaning is the same). Absolutely that should never of been a touchdown. No evidence that the player ever got to the goal line and certainly did not have control of the ball if he did. Which he fumbled by the way and was recovered by WV.
Same could be said
Of Notre Dame’s last play Saturday. Refs are pretty bad in all sports these days.
Big 10 Champ
Ohio State already has it wrapped up and is heading to the Rose Bowl. If they win, their Big10 record is 7-1 (loss to Purdue). Iowa, Penn State, and Wisconsin each currently have 2 Big10 losses.
If Ohio State loses and Iowa, Penn State, and Wisconsin win and all finish at 6-2, Ohio State still goes since Ohio State went 3-0 head to head against Iowa, Penn State, and Wisc…
I live in Columbus, and just walking around town is proof enough that OSU has the Big Ten.
There were roses everywhere Saturday and the drunks were smiley, not zombie-like.
This is my 2nd year in Columbus, and you can tell how well the Buckeyes fared on a Saturday by the demeanor of the drunks that night. You must also take into account the time of the game.
For example, the USC game. Everyone drank all morning and afternoon, then went to the game. They witnessed an overtime loss, and then submissively blacked out for the 1st – and for some, 3rd – time that day. Godforsaken zombies everywhere. The majority of campus looked like the set of a George Romero movie after USC pulled off the win.

In class today, everyone made sure to remind me that Miami (OH) gave the basketball team a tough time last night.
Lots of Miami alums in my class.

Mitch will work it out
Mitchell Barnhart decided Tubby wasn’t Kentucky ‘caliber’ so he failed to support him. Tubby took the hint and got a job at a school that is better known for ice hockey. Enough about that.
Chief Barnhart saw right there in Lexington in Rupp Arena the savior of Kentucky Basketball. Didn’t Billy G. show his worth by beating Tricky Ricky and the Cards? Yep, he was going to show the Cat fans he had the formula to make Kentucky Final Four material again. Well, that’s not exactly what happened. We ended up playing in the NIT last year. BUT Mitch, determined to make good, no matter what the cost. . He said the guy ’didn’t fit’ and three million dollars later we got Coach Cal. at FOUR million a year but everything is perfect now. Hey; it ain’t Mitch’s money so why care about the cost.
So Tubby is bulding a program his way and is in the Top 25. Cal has the No. 4 team in the country. Everyone is happy.
For now, anyway.
I have be correctly accused of having a 'football fetish'. You know, someone who doesn't think football is the warm up sport to basketball season.
No Doubt
That Barnhart made a mistake in commission by hiring Gillispie; nor is there much doubt that he made in omission by letting Smith hang around for years too long.

To all:
Desist with the Tubby talk. It is irrelevant to the thread.
Thank you for your cooperation.
