Anyone Notice that Rider Beat Miss State?

I don't actually even know who Rider is or where they hail from, but I do know they are on our schedule here quickly and they beat #19 Miss St. 88-74 last night. They shot 51% from the field, 62% from the 3, making ten 3's and only turned the ball over 6 times in the game. Did anyone see this game?

Star-divide

They were ahead at the half and led the rest of the game.  Miss. State's stats look decent to me; they shot 42% field and 37% for ten threes; 12 turnovers. Varnardo played almost the whole game, doing his thing with 7 blocked shots...  So who is Rider and are they really that good? Or is this a reminder about the importance of shot selection on the 3?

Seems like Stansbury has a real problem child...

in power forward Kodi Augustus. Apparently he thinks he should also be the coach. Look at these quotes:

“I looked at, and I only played 15 minutes the whole game," Augustus said. "Yeah, I’m p——d, but, I mean, like I said I can’t do nothing about it. I played all those minutes in the exhibition games and then you play me for 15 minutes. Wow.
"It’s true. I don’t got nothing to hide. I mean, you seen it. I’m mad, yeah, we lost."

“There was undersized center Mike Ringgold who went up-and-under Varnado all night to the tune of 21 points on 10-of-19 shooting.
Although Augustus had an opinion on that matter as well, when, at time, Varnado was switched off of Ringold.
"I thought we was up, I thought we was up defensively," Augustus said. "I mean, Ringgold he’s just an unorthodox player and made some reverses on us, but I mean let Jarvis keep (expletive) guarding him.
"I mean, he’s subbing him, and taking him out and let him keep guarding him."

Actually the shooting stat is deceptive

They actually shot pretty poorly. If you remove Varnado who shot 8/8 (probably all tip ins or dunks) the shooting percentage drops down to 33% (18/54) Combine that shooting with being outrebounded by 2 and I think that explains the loss pretty effectively.

good points

I bet this was a real wake up call for Miss State, and should be a reminder for us to take no wind for granted
