The Air Up There
Our world is ever-changing fans. One minute we are searching the skies for a glimmer of light in an endless sea of black clouds and heavy rain, and the next we stand high upon a mountain peak with a majestic view of the world. The next few months are going to be something rare. We know where we are going, and we now know who is taking us there. We have languished in blitheness and mediocrity, while treading water in quicksand. And all of that was just so we could reach this point. It was to make us appreciate what it was like once again to breathe crisp, clean air, untouched by man or machine. Our goals are clear, as are our thoughts and hearts. We make no apologies for what we are about to do, nor do we feel the pain and suffering of those who must be sacrificed to accomplish our task. There will be moments wrought with peril, there will be occasions to sing and shout at the moon in defiance of reality. These things matter not. They are simply stepping stones we tred on the climb upward to that place where little people are even smaller, and the world appears to sit in the palm of our hand.
The Cardinal is just a bird, the The Gamecock a chicken, The Bulldog a pet, and The Volunteer a court jester. You see this is Camelot, Shangri-La, Valhalla and Mt.Olympus all rolled into one. The Dalai-Lama himself stands in awe of what we are about to become, and we have the privilege of witnessing it. The 7 wonders of the world may crumble, the Heavens themselves may shake and rattle at the sound of what we are about to witness. Let lesser beings fear the unknown for they have no idea of their true nature, nor their identity in the course of history. But we do. We understand what is about to take place and that we are merely the vessels to carry the message to the world that no one shall stand between today and the destiny that awaits us. Victory is a given, triumph a known fact. All that is left to decide will be who is left wandering in the wilderness searching for that elusive chalice that holds the elixir of life itself. We have no fear of that. We have no concern for trivial matters. We are Kentucky. And we will always be.
