Tipton Mans Up To Another Error

In today's LHL Jerry Tipton admits to yet another error in his efforts to besmirch UK BB. Remember Tipton's  alluding to NCAA violation by chanting of recruits' name during BBM. Well seems one Sandy Bell had to correct the twit with an enlightening email:

UK compliance director Sandy Bell and the NCAA e-mailed a list of do’s and don’ts involving fans interacting with prospects visiting a campus.

There was no mention of fans’ chanting the name of a prospect. So let the chanting continue. Even better, Patrick Patterson said such chants can really make a great impression with impressionable high school players.

My earlier question about the propriety of such chants was incorrect.

Here’s the do’s and don’ts:

■ A member institution shall not publicize (or arrange for publicity of) a prospect’s visit.

■ The prospect may not participate in team activities that would make the public or media aware of the visit.

■ A school may not introduce a visiting prospect at a function such as a game or banquet that is attended by the media or open to the public.

Violations of these bylaws do not affect a prospect’s eligibility and are considered school violations.

A tool with an agenda!

Living in Louisville and reading the CJ everyday, I honestly don’t read much of what the writes but I’ve read enough to see that he obviously has chosen to be the “thorn” in the UK side.

Would even Sandy Bell hear the fans chanting and think “mmmm, better check the rules and see if that’s OK”? Maybe but Tipton seems to look at every event or situation and look for a problem that he can write about.

Someone wrote that we needed someone like Jerry Tipton……no, we need someone like Sandy Bell.

Tipton’s just about selling papers and his own ego….nothing to do with being fair and balanced toward the University.

Error ?!?!?!?

Sorry, but I call ’em like I see ’em and that, Sir, is a LIE!!

I would greatly appreciate it if all the UK blogs would list the author of the article that they are linking on their blogs now. I do not want to have to click on the link to find out it is another Tipton article. I will not give the HL another hit if I can in any way avoid it.

boy who cried wolf....

btwn the chanting “violation” and the new suv “violation” he could actually find a violation and no one would believe him.

as i posted on the main “MSU game rear view” blog – that might be the greatest justice of all – that he is ignored….

only one rule in my house - uk has to be your favorite college bball team

Maybe we should start him a retirement chant....

surely there is some young buck out there in journalism land who wants a shot at Tipton’s column

Remember, we're having fun now!!!

Tipton

is like an aging journeyman quarterback, who never really had any talent to move on to a better team or starting job, and now finds himself in a desperate, frantic state of trying to find some way to make his mediocre career relevant before he is retired to pasture. He remembers the Pulitzer Prize quarterbacks, but because he has suffered a few too many concussions on the practice squad, he is completely disoriented and believes that the way the prize winning quarterbacks won their jobs was by slinging Hail Marys into triple coverage on every play— and so that is what he trying to do at every opportunity.

He is more sad and pathetic at this stage of his career, really. But unfortunately his Hail Mary strategy can still cause harm and headaches for the team’s coaches, players and families.
