TWO MAIN REASONS UK LOST TO MSU EXCLUDING 348 RUSH YRDS
I've read some great comments about the loss to MSU
While it was an entertaining football game to watch it's a shame
that two main screw ups occured on the coaching side that was the
major reason the CATS lost. I know that players have to execute!
1. Unexcusable that Def Coord Brown can not make a simple adjustment to
get out of "nickel" pkg and make them beat you with the pass.(passing was not their strength!)
2. Go straight into "wildcat formation" when we had the ball first and goal down 31-24. For
crying out loud Phillips called not one but two QB draws. Wouldn't you rather have a proven
stud like Cobb executing these plays out of the wildcat than a freshman who runs a 4.9 40 yrd
dash on a good day!
We've got to win two of the next four to go bowling. GO CATS!

Well ...
… the nickel led directly to the 348 rushing yards, if you ask me. But I agree with both points.

Newton QB draws
In all fairness… Newton has scored a couple of TD’s already this year with his legs. IIRC, he scored earlier in the MSU game.
Of course its difficult, its a shortcut... if it was easy it'd just be "the way."

That's true
and I really like Newton quite a bit.
But despite what Joker says to the media (or imagines in his own mind)— Newton and Cobb are not interchangeable.
Just because Pau Gasol has hit on some shots in the 4th quarter doesn’t mean Phil Jackson is going to take the ball out of Kobe’s hands with the game on the line and give it to Pau.

They might not even
use Cobb in the Wildcat next year. Hartline will most likely be the starter with Newton coming in to mix things up. That would leave Cobb in as a receiver. That way you don’t waist having your QB as a receiver and you keep a real receiver in the game. I agree at this time Newton is not equal to Cobb, but they certainly are interchangeable. Newton has the better arm but Cobb has more football instincts and experience. The Wildcat is used by teams that their QB is not mobil. Newtons strength as he progresses will be his mobility. Check out his HS stats. He was as much a threat with his legs as he was with his arm.
