Kentucky and MSU are very evenly matched. The biggest advantage Kentucky has for this game is home field advantage, and the biggest disadvantage UK has to overcome are injuries to stars Micah Johnson and Trevard Lindley. UK's offense should benefit greatly by the return of Derrick Locke, and this will be the third game that true freshman QB Morgan Newton has under his belt, and I expect we will begin seeing some improvement pretty soon in that area. Micah Johnson's injury figures to be particularly problematic with stud Anthony Dixon at running back.
I do expect a very tough game, and I expect to see a lot of Randall Cobb in the Wildcat today. Mississippi State is much like Auburn in the running game, except they don't use as many trick plays. Tyson Lee is a dangerous threat with his feet, but not so much with his arm, at least so far. But MSU is very tough on defense, particularly in the run, although Florida was able to gain almost 250 yards on them last weekend.
This is a big game for both teams, and I expect a battle.

Only advantage w/o counter is red zone scoring %. Good game to have at home. Go Cats.
BTW – Am I the only one developing a true dislike of Florida?
cheerleaders have black on and Brooks has black gloves, looks like

A Sea of Blue -- Kentucky Sports for the Discerning Fan
Maybe we should be doing blue-black....considering the blackout.....lol
Remember, we're having fun now!!!
afraid that was the correct call
Newton needs to learn about that and Cobb should have realized what happened and gone for the ball.
We escaped.
Now, we need to move the football.
A Sea of Blue -- Kentucky Sports for the Discerning Fan
I am wondering why we are using Locke on returns.....
do we really need he and Cobb back there?? Or is that a design to shorten the field with the new QB’s???
Remember, we're having fun now!!!
I already nabbed 28-20 there lawdog....lol....
and I am going for my 2 in a row cupie doll……lol
Remember, we're having fun now!!!
ARRGGGH.
Weak tackling, getting killed on the line.
A Sea of Blue -- Kentucky Sports for the Discerning Fan
Micah has been in there.
Not 100%, but he’s there. It’s the darn line getting whipped at the line of scrimmage.
A Sea of Blue -- Kentucky Sports for the Discerning Fan
This time...
… Johnson was paying attention.

Great play by Trevathan!
"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means." -Inigo Montoya
that wasnt that bad a play by Newton....had to pull it in....
better to not have a turnover….and he almost escaped
Remember, we're having fun now!!!
Playcalling this game ...
… sucks. Stupid sweep had no chance of success, I knew it was coming. You know MSU did.
We need more Wildcat.
A Sea of Blue -- Kentucky Sports for the Discerning Fan
Newton has early stages of happy feet
He’s big enough to stand in the pocket a little longer to pick a receiver. Maybe with a little more experience he’ll develop better vision to get to #2 AND #3 receivers.
He is not a pocket guy. They are trying to make him
something he’s not. Design a darn run play for him.
someone needs to practice the CATS,,,,,,
middle grandson has birthday party next SAT… Going to try and find a place after the party to watch it,,,,,gonna be in Lexington
:-)
Blue... there is no other color to Bleed !!!
So you thought you could throw it over the middle, eh?
NOT!
A Sea of Blue -- Kentucky Sports for the Discerning Fan
They are looking for that sweep.....run the stupid Wildcat and run it off tackle
Remember, we're having fun now!!!
They are keying on Cobb when he is in the backfield....

Okay!
Well, it was just like we should have expected. A tough game, with two tough teams.
I’ll take it.
A Sea of Blue -- Kentucky Sports for the Discerning Fan
I sure hope Locke is okay.
He is not the most durable back we have.
A Sea of Blue -- Kentucky Sports for the Discerning Fan
2nd half needs
toughen up defensive line, stop off-tackle plays, let Cobb throw from Wildcat, no more injuries.
You don't need to run Wildcat
with Cobb when Newton can run the ball. Wildcat is used when your QB can’t run. That leaves Cobb as a receiver.
I don't
understand why Miss State didn’t come back with their backup QB after he ran through KY the possession before.
Auburn
toasted Ole Miss. Now the UK doubters will be saying how bad the Rebs are.
Yeah.
I was cheering them on! Not because I like Auburn, but because it makes our victory over them look much better.
A Sea of Blue -- Kentucky Sports for the Discerning Fan
which looks like it will be negated
by Tennessee beating the SC team we lost to
Hilltoppers
can somebody explain to me two things:
1) why the Hilltoppers wanted to be in the FBS
2) why the Hilltoppers seem to be a worse team now than when they were FCS
Maybe I haven't been paying attention
but didn’t WKU used to be regularly competitive for the I-AA national championship?
are we not doing any conditioning, or just using guys to do too much????
Remember, we're having fun now!!!
You can see Newton doing exactly what we had hoped for during this 4 game run
maturing by the game…..Brooks has to be happy with his decision making up to this point
Remember, we're having fun now!!!
gonna have to earn this one gang.....punch and scratch and claw and fight
Remember, we're having fun now!!!
I know this is going to sound strange
but MSU looks like we did about 3-4 yrs ago
Remember, we're having fun now!!!
Steve Brown ...
… has been so out-coached, it is embarrassing.
A Sea of Blue -- Kentucky Sports for the Discerning Fan
This should be embarrassing for the D coach......
we need a stop….
Remember, we're having fun now!!!
Someone better figure out how to stop the bleeding.....this could get really ugly
Remember, we're having fun now!!!
we may have just lost a ballgame right there folks.....we are not showing any heart at all
Remember, we're having fun now!!!
spare me.....we let them run over us like we werent there......
I call em like I see em
Remember, we're having fun now!!!
q3 gets us again
maybe we win the q4

Our fans in the stadium
need to be there for the team….and not just expect it to be the other way around.
Make some noise!
do you have that on a macro
cause you get that in so quickly

down one touchtown, 4 min to go
and our home crowd is so quiet I could take a nap on the 50 yard line
you know Brooks leaned into that coach and dared him to screw this up.....lol
Remember, we're having fun now!!!
Update from the stadium
I should of smuggled two flasks.
As for the crowd, I am doing my part, and they are doing better than they usually do.
Alright I am back to yelling
out

freshman mistakes are going to happen.....
I am still ok with Newton…..The D needs their asses chewed
Remember, we're having fun now!!!
We knew that Newton would make some mistakes
coaches made a whole lot more than he did….and the defense needs to learn how to tackle a runner……we are like a pair of siamese twins with one being the good twin and one being the bad…..never know who will show up for dinner
Remember, we're having fun now!!!
Quick comment while crowd wait in the mob
Yes our D was weak BUT it was obvious they wanted this more than us.
I don’t think that lost the game though.
That honor goes to coaching staff. Phillips should hang his head in shame as it walks to his car.
Bet he gets to his before I get to mine.
by Strangeite on Oct 31, 2009 10:18 PM EDT via mobile reply actions
Mullen beat us just like he used to beat us at Florida.....
he saw the first quarter’s stats and ran it down our throats in the 2nd half…..so will everyone else now if we dont fix it. I HATE getting outcoached ……but I REALLY hate getting outcoached by a Florida guy.
Remember, we're having fun now!!!
One mans opinion...
Defense was pathetic…
BB starts Monday..!!!
Steelers fan 1st! UK is my 2nd love.
stadium in Nashville....
….is also very quiet right now
This MSU team
lost by 10 to Florida; lost by 4 to LSU.
nobody should have expected an easy win….
did our defense show up?
MSU's last 4 losses
….have come against 4 teams with a combined 3 losses (through last week).
by Gobe Igbloo on Oct 31, 2009 10:30 PM EDT up reply actions
21 points allowed in 3rd quarter is no defense at all.....3rd quarter is killing us
Remember, we're having fun now!!!
oh well
when I win powerball tonight, it will make it all better…lol
