So what should we be looking for tonight? My thoughts after the jump.
I don't know about you, but here is what I'll be looking for:
- Good shots. I like to see good shots, and I know Calipari wants them quickly. That will be an interesting dynamic.
- Ballhandling -- I will be curious to see how our ballhandling is this year.
- John Wall -- Will he play, or won't he?
- The Big Cuz -- Will it be DeMarcus, or the Cuz?
- Patterson vs. Cousins -- I hope. I want to see that.
- Perimeter shooting -- can anyone but Josh Harrellson make a three?
- Defensive pressure -- this is a Calipari trademark. Will we see any?
- The DDM -- Are we going to see any of that, or is it just too soon?
- Darnell Dodson -- I didn't get to see any of him the other night.
- Getting to the rack -- will players concentrate on doing that?
- Tough inside play -- I wanna see some of the big boys bang.
- The fast break -- I expect this to be great sometime this year. Will it be early, or have to wait until later?

I can watch a UK scrimmage in Florida on TV plus the pre game. Incredible! We don’t even get all of the UF basketball games here.

those freshmen better make sure they stay on top of things…..he will not hesitate to pull em…..have good quality subs on the bench

He’s looking a little tentative tonight at the point, he’ll grow into it though, I have no doubt.
Cal had to whistle.....Wall was too open with that one....

Overall, it was the talent that was on display.

I broke a sweat watching......it was like watching that movie, Speed.....
it just never stopped…..lol

I saw mistakes, and a lot to work on.....but
no one will be able to run with this team. We may not be able to outrun them on the court because of their defense…..but if anyone tries to run with us it will be a big mistake

Ok, that was fun.
Not to be a downer though but we have a long way to go. I would say this team is not top 5 right now. By the end of the year, no doubt. But right now they are just too young and not quite comfortable enough yet. But you have to love the speed, the swarming defense and the fact that when we need a basket, we have a whole team full of guys who can put it in the basket one way or the other. Perimeter shooting will get better. Defense must get better. And one of the biggest areas they all need to work on is conditioning. If we are gonna run like this all year, we gotta be in shape.
But, after 4 years of waiting for a great Kentucky team to emerge, I think this one may be it…

Wall and Bledsoe combined for 20 assists. Wall had 11 and Bledsoe had 9. Last year, our best assist man, Michael Porter averaged 2.5 assists. This is the stat that will elevate this team into the promised land. If they can keep distributing it like that all year, look out.

How classy was that? We have gone from paying a coach 2.9 (whatever)…3 million dollarsor for production while in rehab to a free leason…classic coach, albeit honarary, since March 31 of this very year. I hope Cal really earns his 8 year, $31.65 million.
