Around SBN: Jeremy Lin's Game-Winner Was Incredible, Worth Remembering

What Does He Do For An Encore?

Well, I had to rest for a few minutes, gather my thoughts, and take stock of what I have just spent the last three hours witnessing take place in Lexington, Kentucky. As a self-described traditionalist, and Defender of the Big Blue Faith, I have been witness to quite a few scenes in the past forty plus years watching the Cats and their show. I was taught that P.T. Barnum was considered the "Greatest Showman On Earth" at one point in history. I now can safely say, Mr. Barnum, your time has come and gone.

Without making this political in anyway, I have listened in inspired awe at some of the speeches made by President Obama. Without a doubt, he is charismatic, entertaining, and extremely intriguing to watch. Politics aside, the man makes one hell of a speech. John Calipari must be from New Orleans, in spite of what he says about his Pennsylvania roots, because he could make the dead get up out of a grave and dance. He must be trained in Voodoo and such, as he brought the visions of Wildcats long forgotten, as well as generations of the future still in the womb to life in celebration of the Wildcats past AND their future.

I yelled with enthusiasm, laughed with pride and scoffed at the past sufferings of our beloved Cats, as I had memory after memory run through my mind. Dale Brown's face as the Cats completed their Bayou Miracle, Jack Givens smooth delivery in '78 as shot after shot fell silently through the nets, Rick Pitino's eyes glaring across the court as he willed the Cats through their 1st season with him at the helm, Tubby's "aww shucks" laid back approach in interviews as he commanded the troops with his fire and brimstone on the court in '98. Different fans spoke of "tearing up" during video montages and speeches, but I was like a new father in the hospital looking through the glass at his child wiggling next to all of the others, knowing that his child would be the next Abraham Lincoln, or Cal Ripken, or John Wayne. The pride swelled as I wondered to myself, "What will they do next?".

I have an idea, but I don't want to spoil it for everyone else. As for me, I can't wait to see.

Tru called it when he said we we're witnessing history. I have been on this earth for 44 years, and I have never witnessed anything like this with the exception of the birth of my children. I was not in awe of what I had accomplished with those two, but rather in awe of the gift that I was given in being witness to something truly miraculous. I have seen it again. And again I am in awe. Tonight I say a prayer not for myself, but for those young men and what they dream to accomplish, and for the man who leads them. There is a proverb that says "May you live in interesting times"....I can honestly say this is going to be the most interesting time I have seen in a very long while. Enjoy it Big Blue Nation, it has been a long time coming. And it is something we may never live to be witness to again. Because this was a once in a lifetime event.

Pls no Obama comparisions

Great post with the exception of Obama comparision. I believe Cal is trust worthy, so I hate to see him mentioned and reference to Obama
