KY Basketball Is Going to Be....

Today, I was listening to Coach Cal's press conference from the  Media Day coverage, and I am so pumped over the prospect of what we may see, once again, in our favorite basketball team.  A return to festive times in KY basketball.  Remember those?

The good old days of watching our team dribble, weave, shoot, dunk, block and all the wonderful things we fans love to see.  The way the team was able to move up and down the court with such fine-tuned skills.  Running so effortlessly, like a well-oiled machine.  Dispensing  those skills sometimes to such an extreme, that we wondered how this team could improve, if they could improve.  There were blind-look passes, come-from -nowhere blocked shots and smooth-as-silk strips.  A team working flawlessly together, anticipating every move.   This is what perfectly executed basketball is supposed to look like.   This is what exciting basketball looks like.

Are we ready for exciting basketball?  You bet we are.  KY fans are so hungry to see the merriment returned back to our team.  Fun was a main point that Coach Cal emphasized today in the press conference.  He said if a team is truly having a jolly-good-time together playing the game, they will want to keep playing as long as they are able, that they won't want the season to end.  I love to see the team having a great time on the court.  When the team is having fun, the wins are great, but the excitement is greater.

It appears the team is acquisitive too.  Some are in the gym late at night practicing and shooting, trying to improve their skills.  I think they want to really have fun in the game and want us to share it with them.  We have all seen the moments of the entire bench jumping up in excitement when other members make crucial plays.  The level of excitation they have when their machine is working so well.  These things are fun for them because they are doing it together.  They are doing it for the admiration of their team and the love of the game.

Another tidbit I enjoyed tremendously from today's presser was when Coach Cal spoke of the #3 signs that are proudly exhibited in the stands after each 3-point shot.  He retained that keeping track of 3-pointers accomplished was revelry, but we should also make sure we have D and B signs ready to parade.  Implying that there could be a need to proclaim lots of those too. The D's would be for dunks and the B's for blocks.  One word for this.....FUN !!

Now if all goes as promised, we should have a team that truly wants to produce some great games for their ravenous fans.  They know that fans love to see monstrous dunks and rejections of the opponents shots.  These really get us going.  Throw in a new fast-paced offense and seeing our guys reacting festively once again,  and I would almost venture to call that......PRICELESS !!
