Coach Brooks Takes A Shot???

In his own inimitable style, Coach Rich Brooks took what appeared on the surface to be a shot at some of the individuals facing some embarrassment in the coaching profession yesterday when he was interviewed by WKYT 27 concerning the Florida debacle and how the Cats will prepare for Bama on Saturday

Star-divide

When asked about how he felt about it Coach reinterated that in today's world of sports the fans don't have much patience, and 15 minutes of shame can tear down a lot of built up good will with the fanbase. Coach commented that at least his shame was on the field...............

Yeah, that was a shot......

I saw that yesterday

and about choked on my drink. First thing that came to mind was a coach in another sport down the road and I thought “Wow. Zing!”

Yeah, between that and his last one on the Kansas football/basketball situation

Coach is 2 for 2 the last few days on soundbytes….lol never let it be said he wasn’t a feisty old cat……

Remember, we're having fun now!!!

Unbelieveable

For a guy who doesn’t have a winning record any where he’s been he something else. But, hey, he’s in no danger of being fired so why not say what he thinks.

He's fiesty for his record

Now in his seventh year and other than four wins over our little buddy, Vandy, I think the fans have been very patience. Going 1-24 in you division would get you fired anywhere else.

Are you

old enough to know what a broken record sounds like?

Boom Goes the Dynamite!

I left TN and now I am back in the Bluegrass... just in time for Football and Keeneland! Life is great!

First time I shot her, shot her in the side.
Hard to watch her suffer, but with the second shot she died...

Yep, and old enough to seem 50 years of UK football

Sorta like the one we hear each year about being better ‘next year’?
or is it
We don’t get any respect. That one usually comes right after a four game run of Louisville and our ‘buy wins’.
We don’t hear it after conference play starts.

Seen damnit!

you guys know what I mean.
Cut him any slack and he’d be a legend in his own mind.

Paris, I think we have beaten this thing to a pulp....

you are using a little bit sharper ball pein hammer than I am….but I think they have all gotten the point…complacency, acceptance, reality, whatever it is called, is the enemy of what a coach needs in his head to accomplish what needs to be done….and until that changes, nothing else will.

Remember, we're having fun now!!!

I've got more!

Good one hoboat!
Try this one on for size.
For a man who had six winning seasons in 18 years at a PAC 10 school, he’s certainly got the right to make a dig on anybody.
Or
Teams and records, especially the losing ones, fade from one’s memory.

Guys

Yoou ever hear the one about a silk purse?

by ParisGuy on Oct 2, 2009 11:24 AM EDT reply actions

Here's another

How about its better to get someone who is two years into retirement because the memories of you last losing season is fading fast.

He's Doing A Better Job Her Than Anywhere Else

I’m sorry. I shouldn’t pick on the guy. He was at home fishing and enjoying his life and Barnhart called him to ask about someone else. And the way I read the story, Brooks asked ‘What about me’? The search was over.
He’s doing as good a job as he has done anywhere. I’m happy for him. Soon we’ll have his hand picked successor.
We’re set. That’s good. No coaching searches. We all have seen Mitch’s ability in that. Thant you, I think, Mike Pratt.
The sun will come up tomorrow, the birds will sing and all.
Be happy.

I've told you before

It’s “mitch” and “barnhart” not “Mitch” and “Barnhart”. No caps

by hoboat33 on Oct 2, 2009 1:09 PM EDT up reply actions   1 recs

No, It MITCH to me

Wrong again old sage.
I want Mitchell Barnhart to get all the rewards he deserves. He’s making 3/4 of a million for leading this band wagon and I think we should remember who’s brought us all these championsihips.

Soccer

Hey, I saw Kentucky is ranked 13th in soccer. Where do they stand in the SEC? I didn’t see any other SEC teams listed so I guess we’re first.

by ParisGuy on Oct 2, 2009 2:56 PM EDT reply actions

Opps

They don’t have SEC Soccer. Watch out, we may win the Greater Lexington Collegiate NCAA League. Sorta like winning our other championship, the Great American Rifle Conference.
barnhart, little ‘b’, is about to get anothere championship.

c'mon Paris.....lol...all you are gonna do with this anti-Barnhart/Brooks

tirade is bring down a lot of grief…..

All right, Paris, enough.

Please read the guidelines, and take particular note of the prohibition against badgering and crusading.

Badgering and crusading are often going to get you comments like the “broken record” remark. It’s not good for the blog, creates hard feelings and meaningless threads like this, so please don’t do it.

Check and see if I have gone after anyone before they went after me.

I’m not pleased with the administation of the athletic department and the football coaches. Any others feel that way?

Are you butchering Hartline in you comments? Seems to me you are. Trying to get others to agree with you. That’s OK though. He’s just a college kid. I don’t go after players on here. Seems others do and its fine.

Most of my remarks can be backed up with facts. Can the others? You know my style of writing and most of its in fun.
If this is going to be a pep rally for what’s going on at UK, you and others should lay of Hartline.
