Around SBN: Jim Irsay: We Can Make It Work With Peyton Manning

Looking toward January . . . a change in the lineup Part II

Wow, has the season been full of surprises! I would never have thought that Meeks would have had so many turnovers at this point in the year and that we woul miss Harris so badly at SF. With Miller struggIing, I must recognize like so many others that Porter is needed on the floor both for his foul shooting and lack of turnovers. Never thought I would say that.

LG Porter (He has to call for the ball more and the team must trust him) Backup: Galloway

Wing Liggins ( He has to handle the ball well and also take more shots) Backup: Porter

Wing Meeks ( He has to handle the ball less and become more like Crawford shooting threes or driving to the basket like he does so well.) Backup: Stone

Post Stevenson (He has to take the three and 12 footer to keep the defense honest). Plus contintue to play great defense.) Backup: Stewart

Post Patterson ( He has to just be himself and look to lead this team) Backup: Stevenson

The entire team must continue to trust each other and talk to each other. I really wanted to win this game, but no one can deny that we can play with these guys and beat them. We are becoming a team that nobody will want to play in March, if these 5 players stay healthy.

What do you think of this lineup? Go CATS!

Harrellson, Harris, Miller

All missing from your lineup. I think each deserve PT somewhere.

You are right! I was trying to keep it down to the to the magic number of 8, but that's a long dead discussion.

I really agree against big slow forward/centers who might push Stevenson around, Harrellson would be a great backup.

Harris is hurt and therefore not included. He should be the backup to Meeks at the wing. His defense and rebounding are sorely missed. I actually think he could become our most consistent third option at the wing opposite Meeks. The injury has to heal first.

Miller should be a back up, but his head is messed up right now. He is just trying too hard. Everyone knows he is frustrated, but things will not get any better with Hood and Ferguson coming in the next two years. He needs to relax and be himself. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t have to work his tail off to improve his skill set. Coach is a perfect fit for him. He doesn’t baby his players. Everything in HS came so easily. Now the work begins. IMO Slone (sorry for the typo Hoop Fiend) is ahead of Miller in aggressiveness right now.

It's sLone! Not sTone!

Why does everyone (including UK Fans) seem to have such a tough time with that?

Why though

did Slone see zero PT against Louisville? I don’t think that bodes well for seeing him regularly enough to put him as Meeks’ backup.

My Guess

Coaches don’t sit down before a game and decide who gets how much PT today.

Instead, they react to situations that develop during the game.

Landon Slone

How do you not reward a player that has been bringing it every time he hits the floor..?
And, especially against an in-state rival, (the hated Loserville Car-turds)..? I think Landon knows what this game is all about…
Makes no sense to me, but I’m not the coach… I believe Slone would have played with so much determination & heart that he could have made the difference… JMO

Steelers fan 1st! UK is my 2nd love.
