HELP FOR GAME WATCHING - NASHVILLE
If anyone can help out here, I would appreciate it. I'm traveling to Nashville this weekend to visit a law-school buddy, and am concerned about my ability to watch the UK/South Carolina game.
First question, can someone in Nashville check their cable listings and tell me if the game (Raycom) will be shown on local cable?
Second question, does anyone know of any sports bars or the like in Nasvhille that are UK friendly, or at least likely to show the game?
Thanks.
If anyone can help out here, I would appreciate it. I'm traveling to Nashville this weekend to visit an old law-school buddy, and am concerned about my ability to watch the UK/South Carolina game. I've managed to watch every game this year except for WVU (not shown in Ashland when I was there for the holidays, boo), and don't want to miss this one.

Well, I just checked the Nasvhille cable listings
and it looks like it will be shown on channel 14 (WUXP). Yippee.
Still, any recs on places to watch it would be appreciated, in case we want to get out for it. Thanks.

The only problem
might be if Vandy plays at the same time as UK. Not sure if thats the case or not.

I just checked
UK plays at 7 and Vandy plays at 8…don`t forget you`ll be in the central timezone

UK plays at 7 tomorrow, but at 3 (2 central) on Saturday. . .

No problem. For what it's worth,
Vandy plays at 2:00 (1:00 central), UK at 3:00 (2:00 central), so there will be some overlap.

I live in nashville
and Bailey’s downtown will definitely have the game on. Also there is Sam’s Sports bar in Hillsboro Village that does a good job getting all of the games. These are actually the two best options in town, go to Sams if you want to avoid tourists and Honky Tonkin!
I need a Sea of Blue because I am surrounded by Tennessee orange!

Any bar will play the game if it's on TV there.
You just have to be pushy…I was in Arizona in 2007 for 2 weeks and saw 2 UK football games.

You're right
I lived in St. Louis for 3 years (lots of Mizzou fans and especially Illinois fans in the region, and this was back when Illinois was really good) and managed to see most bball games. I just became a regular at a neighborhood place, and even in the midst of Illinois games the bartender would save one TV for me. I made a point of drinking sufficiently and tipping well.

Exactly...
even better than being pushy. I saw you went to Washington for law school…I have a friend down there in the clinical psychology phD program. I’m in Columbus, OH at law school (Capital University) finishing up my first year. I end up watching the basketball games on my laptop in the library usually (unless they’re 9 p.m. week night games). I see the library more than I see my apartment.

I'm only 2 years out, so I know what you mean.
First year is the worst – you’re halfway through it. I kept up with many a game from my laptop in the library. I did invest in ESPN full court my third year, which was a savior. Much cheaper than having to buy 3 or 4 beers for every game so I could watch it at the bar.

I'm going to have to get ESPN FC for next year...
like you said, it’s a good investment. And I really do like to watch my favorite teams alone or with a few others who are as dedicated as I am (and equally sober).

I was going to suggest
the exact two places sleepytimetea mentioned—Bailey’s downtown and Sam’s in Hillsboro Village. Also, I have to put in a plug for my personal favorite place to watch games when I was there, even though I’m sure it’s not the right neighborhood for you—Edgefield Sports Bar in East Nashville. It’s a total dive but they’ve got cheap beer and million tvs. I’ve watched UK games at all these places, as well as BW3s in Rivergate, and there have always been at least one other table of UK fans. There are tons of Kentucky people in Nashville, you won’t have a bit of problem finding the game on anywhere.

That's hilarious that you know the Edgefield
I live in east nashville and am an avid supporter of that place! Voted second best hamburger in Nashville. I never suggest it to any visitor though as some people have the wrong idea about the East Side and think they are going to have to risk bullets to watch… which is rediculous!

Hey, what do you mean
“right neighborhood for you?” Though I didn’t live in that area, I’ve braved East St. Louis (Illinois) a few times. I’m tough. No, really.

I LOVE the eastside!!
That’s so funny that live there!! We (my husband and I) just moved back to KY from Ordway, do you know where that street is? We lived in East Nashville for about 6 years and were huge fans of the neighborhood—I love how kind of funky it is, but, yeah, you sometimes get weird looks from people about the place if they hadn’t been there pretty recently. They seem to thing they will be shot immediately upon crossing the river ; )
Oh yeah, we spent plenty of time at Edgefield, as well as Alley Cat and 3 Crow Bar—probably too much time, actually : )
