In Response to Last Night's Rebounding Clinic
All Patrick Patterson has to do to match his 07-08 rebounding total at Alabama on Saturday, is get half as many rebounds as he did last night. Despite averaging just over 3 minutes less per game than last year (a mere 32.6 vs his crazy 35.7 last year), Patterson is averaging almost two more boards per game (9.6 vs 7.7 last year)!
Right now Patterson's rebounding total for the season is sitting at 183 in 19 games played. His totals last year? 192 in 25 games.
Patterson has mainly picked up the effort on the defensive end this year. His defensive rebounds already eclipse what he did last year (138 so far this year vs 121 last year). His def. rebounding avg. is up to 7.26 from 4.84. Offensive boards are a little more difficult to come by, partly because he's playing on a team shooting 50.8% (second only to Utah State who's shooting 51.6%).
Although we are only three games removed from the Vandy game and Patterson's career low rebounding total (1). After a MONSTER night like Patterson had last night, you have to take a minute to appreciate the effort he's putting in this year.

Niceo Post - Patterson rebounds with great strength and fundamentals...
Sometimes you see players get rebounds by virtue of just being in the right place and not being challenged by an opposing player. When P Pat rebounds he goes up strong and grabs the ball with two hands almost assuring that no defender will knock the ball out of his hands or bump him out of position. High School and Junior High coaches should use his rebounding fundamentals as a teaching tool. That is how you are supposed to rebound. Locate the ball and go up strong with 2 hands and come down strong. He is a joy to watch.

Unlikely Opponent
Without doubt Patrick Patterson is a good — perhaps great — rebounder, however one shouldn’t overlook the lack of rebounding prowess possessed by Auburn which is limited to practically Kovortney Barber and Wednesday night he was a relative non-factor. Point is that in no other game this season is Patterson likely to have the overwhelming advantage enjoyed versus the Tigers/Plainsmen. Putting on a “clinic” versus a frontline less vertically challenged will be more difficult.
Indeed.
There is no doubt that Auburn is rebounding-challenged.

WVU winning at #14 G'TOWN...
Again, that will only help Kentucky’s RPI…!
This would be a very good win for WVU (and UK)…
Also:
Minnesota down 10 at home with 4:43 to play against Purdue…

Minn goes down at home...
Man, with all these good teams losing at home this week, makes you appreciate UK’s win that much more…!
Steelers fan 1st! UK is my 2nd love.
More Patterson goodness
Patterson should get to 1000 points this season, he’s at 759 right now which would put him on pace to score 1000 right near the end of conference season.
Meeks is also very close and should break the barrier against either Mississippi St or Florida unless he goes nuts again ala Tennessee.
Patterson
I cant wait to see what he can do when he gets his finger healthy. There were many times last night where he bobbled/dropped a pass or missed an easy shot.

As Dicky V would say ...
He’s AWESOME babyyy! Patterson is not only a great ball player, but a great human being as well. The Wildcats are very fortunate to have him. Here’s to going ALL THE WAY this year! GO CATS!
