Around SBN: Bracketology 2012: Duke Finally Steps Up To The No. 1 Line

Brooks reported that second-team center Jake Lanefski sustained a broken bone in his snapping hand. Brooks said that Lanefski can practice with a cast, but probably would move to guard while the bone heals. Other offensive linemen, such as sophomore Marcus Davis and freshman Osaze Idumwonyi, will get a look at the backup center slot during Lanefski's absence.

Bad news about Lanefski. Unfortunately, it was self-inflicted as he hit the ground in anger after missing a block, and came up hurt.

Brooks continues to rave about the freshman WR corps, particularly Matt Roark. Randall Cobb is getting almost all his reps at QB right now.

Is it normal to have these injuries in practice?

Never mind, I just remembered my son breaking his collarbone in practice and never playing his junior year. Been a long time.

Welll

We could always go back to Hal Mumme style and not hit in practice but I like our current coach better, Ofcourse some illnesses like Boyd’s EBV are unavoidable. We just need to make it through preseason without too much more attrition., Go Cats. 21 more days.

Two months (!). Two weeks. Two pencils.

I blame Gillispie's overly tough practices for all these injuries...

Oh wait… you said he’s a football center and not a back-up to Patrick Patterson???? Well… I guess I’m just confused.

Maybe all those sportswriters in Lexington should go on a crusade to convince athletes of all sports that UK is a dangerous place to play and if their parents loved them, they wouldn’t let them play for the Wildcats.

Of course its difficult, its a shortcut... if it was easy it'd just be "the way."

Bradley

Didnt Bradley punch a wall in anger and break his hand missing a few games last season or the one before that?? I know people get angry and frustrated, but seriously, you just have to be smarter than that.

Yep.

That’s what happened, all right.
