Miss the madness? No need: We have the National Champs All-Stars Bracket - NCAA Division I Mens Basketball - CBSSports.com Live Scores, Standings, Stats
OK, this could be interesting. Parrish starts with this quote:
"This I know firsthand because of e-mail, and it should come as no surprise that the most passionate are the ones who have enjoyed the most success -- proof being how I am writing this very sentence on an afternoon in July and there are 1,259 people looking at a message board dedicated to Kentucky basketball, right now. It's crazy."
Oh, yeah. Go check it out. Wanna play?

UK would win using only the '96 team's players...
Well maybe not, but throw in the rest of the guys and it would be a beatdown!
Still not a crook!

Parrish
Neat idea to pass time in July.
As much as I want to regurgitate while writng this; UCLA, with Walton and Alcindor, would be very tough to beat.

Indeed ...
... it’s hard to imagine how you beat those two guys, especially considering guys like Kieth Wilkes, Gail Goodrich, and Walt Hazzard and Marques Johnson will be on their team as well.
Kentucky would be competitive, but UCLA has a very long list of eventual NBA all-stars. Tough spot.

Guessing
Mashburn, Givens, Grevey, Nash, Dampier, Prince?

A 6'5" center?
Too bad Spivey didn’t get to go to play in the league. A special place in the hottest corner of Hell has probably been reserved for Podoloff’s eternal torment.

Cant work
The rules of the game are only players from national championship teams can be selected so anyone who wasnt on a team that wins the chip cant play.

Right. So that means ...
... Prince is out, and Mashburn, Greavey, and Nash as well.
I would say maybe Roby, Givens, Beard, Delk, and Alex Groza as the starting five and Derek Anderson or Antoine Walker as sixth man.

The biggest trouble with this ...
... is that virtually all of UCLA’s championships came in the modern day, where as only 3 or 4 of UK’s have (depending on how you define it).
Hardly anyone who remembers Vernon Hatton, Ralph Beard, Alex Groza, Wah Wah Jones, Johnny Cox et. al. will be voting.

Problem
Unless UK musters enough fan support to win the voting, which is highly likely given UK’s online fan support I think that most of our selected players are going to be a little to old to stick in voters minds and win this thing. I love that we have so much tradition and so many great players of the past but part of me doesnt want to vote so many older players into the game to keep people from thinking all of our success is so long ago in the past.

Exactly ...
... what I was saying above. Nobody voting will remember the heyday of UK basketball, which was not, as many seem to think, the late 1990’s.
