What's wrong with this picture?
It’s really amazing how teams try to get around rules to bring in a recruit. Worse than that is they think it’s o.k. It’s was reported on FOX Sports that John Walls AAU coach has been hired at Baylor. Anyone want to guess where he’s going to sign?
Also Abdul Gaddy’s mom got a call from a CEO of her company (she’s worked there 11 years without a call before) to congratulate her and her son and to talk about how good Memphis is as a school and that Coach Calipari is the greatest. Can you guess where he was going to sign? The link below is about this.
Then you have the issue of referees not calling the games correctly either for gambling problems or they are being paid by some one other than the NCAA. Let’s try something “NEW”, how about calling the games straight up, no special favors, no well I missed that other call so here’s a call your way to make it right. No! Call it as you see it only. No make up’s, no favoritism, just plain “Straight Up”.
Come on let’s try and do things right for a change. What kind of lesson are we trying to teach our kids?
GO BIG BLUE!!!

Hmm ....
The call from Bronczek came earlier this month and lasted approximately 10 minutes. Oseye Gaddy also told FOXSports.com that she received the call just a few days after the family was contacted by Tigers coach John Calipari, who is actively recruiting Abdul Gaddy. Calipari was at a basketball camp Thursday and repeated attempts to contact him were unsuccessful.
Very convenient timing, that.
Could it be that there is some fire around this smoke? I have always been a little suspicious (and a lot jealous) of Calipari’s recruiting success at Memphis.
As to the Wall situation, that is nothing new. Even Kentucky has done this, maybe Forty will remember who. As long as the guy is qualified for whatever job he was hired at, the NCAA can’t say boo. It’s just one of those things that looks really bad but is pretty much out of the reach of the NCAA’s long arms.

2 COACHES Come To Mind
UK hired Bob Chambers (later, not right away) after Derrick Hord signed his LOI.
UK hired Simeon Mars (the same year) when Jamaal Magloire signed. His parents wanted Purdue.
Perhaps parent(s) have been hired at IBM (now Lexmark) or Toyota but I don’t know any name(s0>

Lets not 4get about Alvis Johnson. He was hired when Ky. was after Dennis Johnson. Just one of those things that go on.

Kansas
How do you think Larry Brown “recruited” Danny Manning to Kansas? He hired his dad.
Of course, as Tru points out, that type of thing goes on all the time. Doesn’t make it right, it just makes the coaches “uncreative”.

I forgot ...
... UK did basically the same thing when they hired heralded football recruit Dennis Johnson’s father to an administrative positon within the athletic department.
At least Johnson was a Kentucky kid.

John Clay in "Sidelines" blog ...
... correctly points out that Darius Miller had a close relationship with Tracey Webster. So he hired him. I think at the time I referred to his hiring as a “savy” move by Billy.

No need to apologize. And if a program is ever going to hire a coach/relative of a player ...
… to secure a commitment, Johnson was the man.

Not only has UK done this in the past (Magloire / Simeon Mars) package deal but Billy G did it recently at TX A&M by hiring DeAndre Jordan’s AAU or HS coach. So, I would not be too surprised if this type of thing occurs again at UK.
